    Better not be Mil's!!!

There was a lot of orange peel on this car. I imagine I removed at least .5 mil. Maybe just a hair more.

Nice work I hate seeing orange peel on a high end car.

    Thanks Scott!

It's weird, when I start working, and don't have any distractions, I sort of get into a "zone". Once I get into that "zone", it's like everything flows.

About how many hours does something like that take? Just wondering.

I agree with Mike... I love the van too!

You did an excellent job of capturing the real world condition of the finish for both the before and the after photos as capturing orange peel and any surface defect for that matter is usually a tough thing to do that requires multiple shots and crossed fingers.
I have over 270 shots of this car. Trying to capture this orange peel was tough!

The back window area and the deck-lid next to the back window have some tight areas and the louvers, like any louvers take a surgeon's touch to run a rotary buffer down each one without burning through the edges.

The paint in the recessed area where the fresh air intake speaker grills are is also tough to do completely by machine.

Just buffing out a Viper is a challenge let alone sanding one down and then buffing out your sanding marks.
You can say that again!!! I think the only straight part of this body is the lower part of the hood, right behind the front wheels. Every panel is curved and very difficult to work with.

Thank you sir! I owe it all to you guys! You, Mike Pennington, the entire Meguiar's team and a number of people on this forum have taught me so much! I've always had a passion to work with automotive paint, and you guys have helped me do what I love.

Thanks! We really didn't have to struggle with this decision at all. Had the logo draw up, and chose the colors for the logo. The van was a no brainer when it came to color. Had to travel 600 miles to get this van(not many red Chevy vans set up like I wanted). It just all flowed together. No stress on this decision at all.

    nice recovery there!

    what was ur process?
    Process was....

    Wash
tape(yes I tape up some edges before I sand)
    Wet sand with 1500 grit
    Wipe the car down
    Wet sand with 2000 grit
    Wipe car down
Wet sand the hood, roof and deck lid with 4000 grit.
    Pull outside and wash again
Start buffing with Solo on a wool pad
M105 on a DA with a yellow pad
And 21 2.0 for the final step

I tried M105 on this car, and it just wasn't working. No matter how little I used or what speed I tried, it gummed up and was a bear to remove. On the flip side, M105 worked amazing on the DA with this car.

    Nick,

The Viper looks fantastic. You really saved the car. The deep red paint is off the charts. The reflection is tremendous. Great work. Way to go.
