    Re: 1975 Corvette Suggestions Please

Funny man! Get your 79 done and then talk to me. What state is your 79 in? By that time this ole 75 might be talking to me again.

You know how good they look sitting under the car cover? Spring comes around and then... who knows... maybe your 79 will be done? Gee, I think someone in this forum had some words to say to me about this. will have to read over previous posts.

Actually, had a concussion"syndromes", enjoyed (not) amnesia, then memory loss. Just starting to come back around to regular life this last month. Appreciate your posts reminding me about this forum.

I'd like one of those 'secret' makeover shows to come pick it up and return it back all done.

      Cheryl,

I hope you are starting to feel better about your Corvette. You picked up a vette for around 4K if I remember right and that's a pretty cheap price to pay for a vette that actually runs. Seems to me that you just need to think about what you want to accomplish with this car. It will never be an investment car. 1975 was not a particularly great year for Corvette's. So, then you really just need to do what you want to the car. Just make it a fun car to have.

As you have found, restoring an old car is not a task to be taken lightly. You should get people to help you. That way you don't have to walk this road alone and you will learn lots from others during the process....and you will start having more fun with your Corvette and that's what owning a Corvette is all about. You may want to check out other forums such as the Corvetteforum.com or digitalcorvettes.com. There are many sections devoted to restoring older vettes and you will find that Corvette people are more than willing to help. Many folks have fixed all the issues you will be dealing with and would love to show you the proper way to repair that Vette. Most likely you will find that there are Corvette people in your area who are happy to donate their time to help you restore your Vette. Get your husband to help and the two of you can have a really great time!

Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress. Take lots of pictures along the way.

I concur. I have a 1964 Chevy C-10 with original 6 cylinder (now blown up and replaced by a 350) and 4 speed, nothing special or rare like the tri fives. I bought the truck from a dear friend and he gave me a 350 when my 6 cylinder blew up. I dumped lots of money in that truck over the years just to keep it running and most important safe. I burned a valve and it's down right now but hope to get it running soon this spring or earlier. Moneys tight and spend it on other things for now. This year we went to a 49er game and that was our CHRISTmas present, we spent the rest on the kids and no credit payments for us. Plus we know the reason for the season.

I look at that truck and wonder why I spent so much on it and it's not the most valuable truck. But it's my truck, I met the guy years ago and loved the truck and he promised to sell it to me when he got sick of it. He did.

It needs new front fenders (the lower corners are shot and flap in the wind), the rockers are shot I'm sure, the motor needs rebuilt, I want either a 5speed or an auto overdrive, new wheels, the front end is shot, rear end was replaced with a used rear end, may need rebuilt, everything leaks, etc etc. But it's my truck, I love it and someday it'll look good.

I just got a 1980 CB750F that needs some TLC, the projects never end. Oh yeah, help my son with his '66 Dodge D100 with original 318 3 on the T baby.

Keep going, it's your car, you bought it cause you liked it.

          Keep us posted.
