I tried to put a filter on my Electric blower the other day. It went on fine but I noticed the motor got excessively loud like it was going to overwork itself.
This was a very coarse air filter. One of those washable kind you put into your air handler for your house.
I took it back out as I felt the moter would burn up pretty fast.
But again, I have never had a need for a filter. If it does happen to **** something in while I am using it, it has sucked it out of the air and chances are it is light enough not to cause me any concern.
I tried using Speed Detailer twice over NTX Tech Wax (paste) and got bad streaking both times. The older Quick Detailer doesn't streak but also doesn't leave the shine of the Speed Detailer over the NTX wax.
What could I be doing wrong with the Speed Detailer that's making it streak so badly? Depending on what angle you look at the vehicle in the sun, the streaks could be barely noticable to extremely bad. I really like the initial shine over Quick Detailer so I'd like to figure this out. I also read on other forums where some people didn't care too much for the Speed Detailer also complaining about streaking and still recomend the older Quick Detailer.

Applying too much cold make it streak, but that has not happened for me. Using it on a hot surface? That could be a cause but again, that has not happened for me.
Make sure you shake it well. I found that a Supreme Shine MF towel or a Quick Detail Pad works best. Don't wash them with other towels and use no fabric softener!
Was is possible that it froze at some point?
Try these suggestions and let us know if they work. We'll figure it out.
Oh, one other thing, use the Meguiar's Body Duster to remove the majority of the dust before you use any QD, otherwise you are just pushing excess dust around and make smears more likely. Don't worry, it won't scratch.
Just picked up some NXT Speed Detailer yesterday from Halfords [UK motoring chain] and I'm thoroughly impressed.
I'd bought it as I was running out of the regular QD and I had a couple of smears in my NXT wax that I only seemed to be able to rearrange rather than remove and usually a quick misting of QD does the trick for me in this situation.
The NXT detailer was very easy to use, cleaned up the little bits of dust etc a treat and let me buff out those irritating smears nicely.
Well I think I found a solution to the streaking by accident. After I dry my truck with a microfiber towel I have been using the quick detailer on my soft tonneau cover to shine and remove water spots. After running out out of quick detailer, I used the speed detailer which seemed to shine the cover better then the quick detailer and then I tried it on the paint with the same damp towel I used to dry my truck and got no streaking with the speed detailer using a dampened microfiber towl and I really sprayed the detailer on!

Hmm. I have not seemed to have had streaking with eith of those products. But I ise it sparingly. I use with a QD pad. For the first panel, generally 1/2 of the hood. I spray 5-6 squirt directly to the pad. Then for each new panel afterwards I give it about 2 squirts prior to starting each panel. This seems to work well for me.
The only time I get steaking is after having clayed, But that is to be expected. I simply QD the whole truck after claying and it goes away.
My friends get a little scared after I clay. Thats generally when the vehicle looks it's worst. I have to tell them, have faith. They are usually pretty quiet at this point. Then, once I apply the first polish, they start talking again. Happens everytime.
It's almost Summer here in Melbourne and the only thing I don't like about Speed Detailer is that everytime I use it, I get this:
The car has #21 on it.
Speed Detailer is nice. Definitely different to the regular QD. SD feels thicker and definitely does more than just clean off dust, it seems to leave a fair bit behind.
I prefer #34 because it leaves very little behind, sometimes I refer to it as a "pure" QD. I'm just trying out NXT SD and it seems to be nice for what it does.

I am adding #34 to the mix soon. Right now switch back and forth between Last Touch, Quick Detailer and Speed Detailer. I am thinking about using the #34 for applications when I am getting ready to wax, glaze and such where I would rather not have the residual product that the above Qds seem to leave.
I doubt I will be bying much more of the Spped Detailer or Quick Detailer as I go through enough to where it makes better sense for me to buy in bulk.

#34 is a great all around product. But if you can find some Final Detail still left on the shelf somewhere, then I would highly recommend that you buy a gallon or two of it.
Aurora40 found a 5 gallon container of it for almost nothing!

Same here! Before I used #21, I was on NXT and the bees kept coming to my car and trying to land on the paint! Now with #21, less of that but there are lots of flies in summer. I get the same insects that you get on my windows though, and they have RainX on them!
