  • NXT Tech Wax Ramblings

I used NXT Tech Wax paste for the first time today. Because my black Hemi was in very good shape I used it as a one step cleaner wax. I applied it by hand using the Tech Wax applicator that came with the wax and removed it with the new Ultra Plush Terry Towel. (These towels are super!)

This procedure took no longer than my usual PC application and removal of the NXT Tech Wax in liquid form.

I think that I prefer the paste wax for hand application. I find that swiping the applicator pad across the wax feels more comfortable to me than having to squeeze the liquid wax’s container to get the product onto the pad. For PC application I’ll stick with the liquid wax.

In looking back over my detailing records (Who’s obsessive? Not me!), I find that I have used NXT for just over a year. I have used it almost exclusively as a one step cleaner wax. I have used DACP or a polish only in areas where I have noticed scratches. My black Hemi is just over two years old (but it has 50,000 miles on it) and I have only polished the entire truck twice – once with #9 and once with Blackfire polish. The last time I polished the entire truck was in May, 2003. Every time I apply NXT, I tell myself that next time I’ll use a polish first. But when it comes time to wax again, the finish just doesn’t seem to need it. The filler and light cleaning action of NXT seem to take care of any minor marring -- just like Meguiar’s claims that it does.

I usually apply NXT every six to eight weeks. However, over the past winter the truck went almost five months without an application.

Needless to say, I am very pleased with NXT and highly recommend it both to obsessive detailers and just the average folks who like a nice looking finish on their vehicles.

    P.S. on the NXT Ramblings

Applying the paste wax by hand and removing it with the Super Terry Towels, eliminated the major dust collection problem that I had when I applied the liquid wax with a pc and removed it with a microfiber bonnet on the pc. Of course this minor pc/microfiber problem disappeared with the first wash.

tguil-try using the paste via PC, IMO it works better than the liquid that way. Just a few small dabs is enough per panel.
