  • Ultimate Wax Review

I have been using Meguiar Products for a good long time and I definitly have some favorites. But there comes a time where I just need to get some wax on a car and time is a factor. I always follow cars up with Ult. Quick Wax just to ensure the Hydrophobic layer of protection.

I do not have pictures as the car is GM Light Pewter Metallic and simply put, the camera could not do it justice.

In Connecticut we had a really bad winter and I had a horrible time trying to maintain cars so basically after our most recent snow storm. I finally got a 48 degree day where I could wash, dry, and wax for some basic protection.

    Process:

-Wash Rims, Tires, and Wheel Wells with Bleech White
-Wash Car with Warm Water and Meg's Gold Class car wash
-Blade off water, followed with Water Magnets
-Apply Ult Wax over the whole car on the heavy handed side

** Car was pretty smooth on the surface so no clay bar, but she will be buffed soon.

Followed up with the Black MF towel provided in the kit.

The Wax hazed perfect about 5-10 mins after applying so I could go in one sweeping motion. Wax came off with out much effort. Using outside sunlight I managed to find some spots I still had to go back over but no residuals were left over. A Major plus of this product.

The real nice part is the flake in the paint looks almost wet to the touch and the paint feels buttery smooth.

I am very impressed with the product and a great compliment to the other products in the "Ultimate" line.

Do yourself a favor and get this wax.

    Thanks for the review.

Did you feel the need to spray this one with Ultimate Quik Wax when you were done? If so, how long did you wait before spraying it?

I agree, a great addition to the Ultimate line.

For the first time using. I did not. I went back outside bout 2 hours later and the paint has the same smoothness like when I use UQW.

I will mist time water on it tommorrow to see how it beads. I suspect very well. Then I will do a UQW wipe down.

In general I will always UQW because Hi Tech Yellow and NXT 2.0 does not bead as well. I suspect if you wax, and you can leave it be. Its more a personal preference.

        Re: Ultimate Wax Review

Just got a hold of the new Ultimate Paste Wax a while back. Megs Philippines was kind enough to test it on my ride.

        My initial observations are:
        1. The shine is deeper than the NXT 2.0;
        2. Water beading is as good as the NXT 2.0; and
        3. The surface is smooth as silk.

Now I just have to test its durability. More reviews to come.

          Re: Ultimate Wax Review

I just spent about1.5 hours applying Ultimate Wax-Paste version to my true red Mazda 3 and my pitch black Ford Focus. (I have sold, or given away lot's of Ultimate wax recently, but I held onto one tin of paste and one bottle of liquid). 1st off, no streaking what so ever. Applied by hand with the black applicator to both cars, then went back and buffed off with a supreme shine micro fiber. I put it on thick on the roof of both cars, just to see how hard it would be to buff off, and if it would streak. While it was a little harder to buff off the thick areas when it had dried, it really was still pretty easy to buff off. The thin applications came off with almost zero effort.

Here's what I liked best about it-ease of application and wipe off, the darkening of the paint, and the slick feel. I was careful when putting it on, and wiped off any trim right away, but zero staining with the paste. Not sure what would have happened if I let it dwell, but no issue with a quick wipe off. I am still a little nervous about wintertime durability, but may give it a go with a last detail late November/early December and see if it can make it to March.

I have heard UW topped with GCCP is fantastic -- can't wait to try that.

This wax is AWESOME ! Super easy to apply and remove . I enjoy the fact that if you get it on the black trim , it comes right off .
