I stopped in one of the local Advance Auto Parts stores today looking for the new for 2010 Meguiar’s Ultimate Wash & Wax. I looked around and did not see it on the shelf, so I inquired about it to one of the parts guys and he said they just got a bunch of new stuff in so he went into the back and checked for me. He came back out with the new Ultimate Wash and Wax in hand. $9.99 + tax later and I was out the door.
Here it is.

I got home and since it was such an unusually nice day for this time of year (48 degrees & partly sunny), I figured what better day to put the new Ultimate Wash and Wax to the Ultimate test. My truck has not been hand washed in who knows how long due to cold winter weather and it has actually been several weeks since it was even above freezing and not snowing to where I could at least give the truck a rinse at the local coin-operated car wash.
My truck was looking pretty bad. Here it is after several weeks of road salt, sand, and the anti-icing chemicals that they have been using almost daily around here for the last several weeks on my daily 80 plus mile round trip to work and back.

The pictures don’t do it justice, but here is a close up of the worst part, the tailgate. No reflection there. Noting but major dried salt and sand build up.

I started by pressure washing my truck to get as much of the salt and sand off as possible and then I rinsed it again and began washing the truck with the new Ultimate Wash and Wax.
And here is my truck after it’s much needed bath. A simple wash and dry, nothing else and you can see it came out great.

Here is a close up before and after of the tailgate area. Hey you can actually see a reflection now.

A couple observations and thoughts on the Ultimate Wash and Wax. It has a milky yellow color to it. Different than any other car wash I have ever seen. It had the normal thick car soap consistency and it also had a nice kind of citrus smell or something to it. Couldn’t quite place the smell, but I liked it. I filled my bucket with about 4 gallons of water and then poured approx. 4 ounces of soap into the water per instructions and mixed it. It mixed up just as well as any other soap and it also had really good suds when washing the truck. The only con I can really think of is the price and that is just my personal opinion. $9.99 just seems a little steep for the small bottle that you get (48 oz.). It was only my first time using it though and this spring when the weather breaks and I can actually start washing my truck more regularly we’ll see if the results I get are worth the extra money spent over Gold Class Wash which is my normal go to wash.
All in all I liked the product though and I look forward to using it more often this spring.
