  • Hello everyone! New to the forum and a new RV owner - and an interesting question....

Hello. The short story is I bought a 5th wheel (2020 DRV 40KSSB4) with body paint/clear coat, and gelcoat fiberglass molded cap. OK so far.... but I need to put this RV in a rough part of town for 12-18 months (live aboard) and don't want it gleaming and attracting attention to it - just the opposite. This may sound crazy but was thinking of putting like polishing compound on it an leaving it on, or spraying it down with mud or something so it doesn't scream 'steal me', 'vandalize me', rob me' quite as much, but don't want to permanently damage the paint. At the end of my penance I want to clean it back up and looking like it was meant to look. Thoughts? (and thanks in advance)

Hi cdavid1 & welcome to Meguiar's Online. We would not have any product to help achieve what you are looking for. I would personally probably get a cover & wrap it tight with some cable locks which are somehow backed with foam or some sort of material so they are secure & not moving in the event of wind or weather.

Hi Nick and thank you for your suggestion. That may end up being a partial solution for me for the nose area where I don't have windows and doors where I need access.

What would happen if I left a heavy coat of wax on the surface in heat and humidity for 12-18 months? Would it potentially damage the paint/clear coat over time?

Not sure honestly but we would not recommend that and don't think it is going to achieve what you are looking for either.
