  • About Me

Hi, Old time(r) here, and into hobby/shade tree auto repair. Hung around the body shops as a youth and picked up some skills but never was all that good and it was just as well that I chose a profesion that didn't show my lack of skill in this area.

Now, in my retirement, I have been buying, repairing driving or selling cars that need my help. Kinda fun and interesting to save some of these cars for a few more years and miles.

After 7 years of rebuilding and selling Geo Metros, I have become bored and even though the demand is high, I need more challenges in my hobby. I have now purchased a couple Prius hybreds at action and find they are a well built car with plenty of challenges of my technical skills.

The reason I am here?? Well, one of my Prius "road-kill" was a Yellow Cab and I have to replace a complete rear quarter. Whether I farm it out or do it myself, I will have to repaint a large portion of the car. The original color was the deep blue of Prius '07 and is evident inside the door jams and behind the bumpers and trim (they only mask the windows and tires, everything else is Yellow). I am considering stripping it but the paint on the good body portions is solid and in good condition and I might just repaint the repairs to Yellow Cab yellow and replace any trim that shouldn't have been painted.

There was a thread on here that brought me here, having to do with the single part PRC paint that Yellow Cab use and I can't say that is what is on the car now. Just need to know how to best match the existing color and type of paint that will allow me to touch up where they scraped the yellow surface when the scraped off thier numbers and decals.

I appreciate this forum and any comments and suggestion you all may offer.

    Steve
