  • Hello from North Jersey

Wasup peoples, I'm new to MOL but not to detailing(just the basics), I was a Turtle wax person before I used Meguiars products, never looked back......abt 11yrs ago when I first bought a Teal Green Integra that I had compound & waxed, that's when the detailing bug got me. I thought a new coat of paint would be the answer but after the results of treating the paint, people actually thought I painted the car.

I now have an 2005 Mitsu Evolution 8 Apex Silver, that I've taken care of with a bit more detail....
I'm in the process of finishing wetsanding it, what a pain in the @#% that is lol.....but after getting bored, I wanted to see some results so I'm using the Ultimate compound, it got me Excited again, I'm anxious to finish.
    Wow what a difference......

If the question is asked, why I wetsanded, it's b/c a couple of years back I used to drive to work into NYC, being parked in the streets at times my car mysteriously would end up w/ scratches & with stuff I couldn't take off w/ clay bars, waxing a few times so I turned to wetsand which has taken alot of the stuff off but not the scratches that are too deep in the paint.

The front end of the car looks good after the compound but it sure can use another kick of shine.....
So my question do I need to use a Polish before waxing for the finishing touch?

    Thanx in advance

    Welcome to Meguiar’s Online Angel!!

It would be recommended to put a polish or a glaze down prior to applying a wax or sealant if you want to maximize depth of shine. It’s always an optional step, but well worth doing especially on darker colors.

No problem Angel. They both serve the same function, to continue to bring up a gloss and offer protection to the paint. Usually a wax refers to a Carnauba base, while a sealant is going to be fully synthetic. The sealants tend to be longer lasting and break down slower since they are man-made.
