Here's my little story, for those brave enough to read it, lol
I was trying to find some information on a particular product from Meguiar's recently and stumbled onto this forum. Once here I proceeded to digest everything I possibly could. There's such a wealth of valuable information! After spending a good deal of time reading I left the website and bought what I was looking for. However, I found myself returning again and again for further information.
Now, you see, I've been "detailing" my parents caravan and my dad's work van since I was barely 8 years old. I used such basic everyday things.. some car soap, washed it, and used some Armor All stuff that my dad had around. Also had access to my dad's truck mounted carpet and upholstery cleaning system to vacuum and clean the carpets. As I got older there were some other products available for me to use.
It wasn't until I had my first car, which was one year after I had graduated high school (yea, no car for me during high school), that really taking care of my car (2005 TrailBlazer EXT) was important. I bought some basic TurtleWax products and used Armor All. I was never satisfied with anything and my vehicle always looked horrible!
No matter the outcome, I always loved cleaning and taking care of vehicles. It never dawned on me how much I love doing it until I was reading through this site. I was so inspired by many of the photos and writeups on here, mostly Tuck91
Eventually I started trying more products and that included some of Meguiar's. I fell in love with their products one after another.
Over the past few years with the purchase of my black 2007 Chevy Avalanche in the summer of that year, I've wanted to really maintain it as best I could (plan to keep it for at least 10 years). I've wanted to find ways that made it look good, maintained it well, and constantly find ways to improve the efficiency of caring for it. The Avalanche has got to be one of the most complex vehicles to care for due to its midgate system and bed and plastic cladding (which suffers serious fading issues that no car product works on), so the less time the better!
Anyways, this brings me to today, which is that I've been investing in a lot of products and now my large collection (small compared to many of you guys on this forum!!) of products include only Meguiar's.
What dawned on me in the last week or so is that my love for detailing, producing the beautiful end results, and getting some real hands on labor out of it is something I'm very much interested in doing as a profession, even as a side job.
I've been running my own web design business since 2004, pushed that off on the side as a part-time job when I was asked to take on an IT position for a public school system in 2007, and now looking to go a new way in my life and get away from the insane stress of the IT world.
So here I am... just wanted to say hello to everyone!
