  • Old dog, new tricks :)

    Hello guys n' gals!

Greetings from the rust belt! I've been a long time lurker of this website and finally decided to join. Not sure how much I'll be able to help out, but I'm looking forward to having some discussions!

I'm a girl, but instead of hanging out with Mom in the kitchen, I always hung out with Dad in the garage! To this day, I can put on a heck of a coat of wax and do minor repairs but still can't cook worth a darn!

I've been detailing cars as a hobby since I was about 12 or so. My Dad taught me the old fashioned ways of carnuba wax and good ol' elbow grease. Before I had a "real" job, I used to detail his friends cars/babysit/mow lawns as a way to make money for my first car. I've used dozens of polishes and waxes over the years, but now my favorite is NXT Tech Wax 2.0! I've had quite a few Meguiar's products over the years, but now NOTHING but Meguiar's touches my vehicles!! (Ok, maybe ONR...)

Over the years, I've always taken care of my vehicles...I guess that's just something that is hardwired into some people...others, not so much

As the name implies, I'm a dog trainer/handler and I have my second cadaver dog. I've been training and handling dogs in some form or another for 20 years. If nothing else, I'll be able to help out with pet hair removal/problems because I cart my dogs just about every where I go! LOL!

We have a 1951 Mercury coupe that's a show car, but also kind of a daily driver. My Dad isn't the type to keep "trailer queens" so we do drive it on occasion. It's stock except for the interior and it's standard on the column (and that's how I learned how to drive standard!) It's base coat, clear coat black and it's got it's share of paint defects..swirls and water etching.

The other vehicle is a 1986 Chevy Blazer dragster. It's got a 408 cu in big block, Edelbrock 800 dual feed carburetor, competition cam, Keith Black pistons 9.5 to 1 compression, turbo 400 transmission w/ kevlar clutches, V & M shifter, Ford 9 inch posi differential, 18.5 inch Hoosier Pro Street tires, 10 gallon fuel cell and a roll cage. It's something Dad enjoys tinkering with and I drag race it at Dunn Tire Raceway here in Lancaster. It's a nice partnership...he works on it and I race it!

And of course my daily driver, a silver 2006 Chevy Tahoe Z71, which was just purchased to replace my 2003 Z71 (I buy my Mom's old trucks when she buys a new one. She's retired and doesn't drive them in the winter, so I get a just about new truck with low miles...can't go wrong..)

I must say, this website is addicting...I just placed my SECOND order to ADS in a month!! This time, I finally got the G110v2 Ultra Kit. I swirl-x'd the Mercury and used some 2.0 on it, which did a really nice job, but I'm still not happy. Not that the products didn't deliver, I just need a little something more to help with the swirls & etching. That and my Mom just bought a 2010 Tahoe LTZ in what other color...BLACK!! It's really sad to see all the swirls in such a new car!!

Well, that's all, I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to being a part of the MOL community! Bring on the G110v2 baby!!

Welcome to MOL!! You and your dad sound like an episode of Car Crazy!!

If you're finding SwirlX to not quite cleaning things up to your expectations, don't be afraid to step up to Ultimate Compound. Of course, proper technique on the G110v2 helps a bit too

Just bought some yesterday! Yep, I think now I have the entire Meguiar's consumer line...and soon to have some pro stuff coming from ADS!

        Thanks for the warm welcome!
