Hello everyone! I'm a total newb when it comes to detailing. I don't even know if I'm washing my car correctly but anyways, a friend of mine showed me a link to a review of the Meguiar's Solo system which I think I'm going to purchase.

I have a 99 Mitsu Eclipse that was repainted about 5 years ago. It was originally black but repainted with Honda's Nighthawk Black. It has some marring on the roof and shows some on the hood and the decklid. Something that would happen when you neglect the paint.

Anyways, i hope to learn from you fine folks and any tips and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Does anyone know if there's an Authorized dealer in San Diego? I'm trying to buy the Solo kit locally but the auto parts store here only carry the "regular" stuff.

From the looks of it, it looks like whatever the body shop used to buff the car out broke down. The CC doesn't appear to be coming apart but more oxidized than anything. There's heavy swirl marks...almost looks like an unfinished wetsanding job.

Welcome to MOL from another San Diegan. You can try to buy Solo pads from a PBE store, but I would suggest ordering online from either Meguiars.com or autodetailingsolutions.com. Much cheaper than paying full retail.

PBE = Paint and Body Equipment store. You can locate one close to you by using Meguiars Dealer Locator. Just select Meguiar's Professional Products and key in your zip. But the best prices and service come from autodetailing solutions.

Unfortunately that looks like fairly severe clear coat failure to me. I think the only real option for the roof is new paint.

Mark...thanks for the reply and you may be right. At this point. I think I can probably play around and see if I can revive it. Even it's just a little bit. It will look better than it does now

Very true- at the least you have something to practice on that you don't have anything to lose with.
