Hello Everyone,
I actually have been on here before, but its been a way long time, so I figured I would re-post my hello's to everyone, and re-introduce myself.
My name is Don Bedford, or as my friends all call me "Candyman". I am the former owner of a full service Detail Shop that was based out of Poway, CA, and mostly specialized in large volume production detailing for large higher end dealerships around the northern part of San Diego. At peak production, I had a show with 2 detail bays, and one wash bay, and had 3 self contained mobile units on one ton Ford Vans which were used to service our dealerships.
I sold my shop a few years ago to pursue a career as a Long Distance Truck Driver to spend some moe time with my Father, and see the Country at the same time. Though I retired from full time Detailing, its just a part of me, and is what I truly enjoy, so I have used my time on the road to visit, and, see places, and meet people involved in Detailing from all over. I have voulenteered some time to help detail a Corvette Singray at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky, and have hauled several loads of PPG Paint into several Auto Manufacturing Plants in Detroit MI, where I got to take a tour, and actually got to hang around, and meet some of the guys that do all of the last minute details before it leaves the assembly line for shipment, just to mention a couple of places i have been to.
In addition, I am big time into the Custom PT Cruisers scene, run my own PT Website, and am acively involved with most PT Clubs in, and around the Southern California area. I am often working with different Clubs on Events like our big PT River Run over in Laughlin, NV, which is an all PT Show that is held annually to help rais money for Le Roy’s Boys Home, in La Verne, Ca. We usually bring in between 300 to 350 PT's a year for this Event, and it is a real blast! In between big shows, I also like to stay pretty active at smaller Events as well whenever I get the chance.
I always use, and recommend Meguiar's Products to all my Friends throughout the PT Community, and when I am not busy with shows, or working on keeping my PT at 100%, I can usually be found on either my Website, or a handfull of other PT Websites tweaking my huge Step by Step Auto Detailing Guide, or giving frre advice on Detailing to any of my Fellow PT'r's in need.
I am currently based out of the Hemet area, and do shows all over the LA, and Riverside CA area, so if you see my ride around at a show, please come by, and say hi to the Candyman! It is always such a pleasure to meet a Fellow Detailer, and boy do I love to talk shop! If I am not hangin around working on my ride, I am not hard to spot. Just look for the Guy with the Orange Makita Rotary Buffer in one hand, a bottle of Meguiar's in the other hand, and an Orange Microfiber Rag hanging off my back pocket and that will be me! Ya just can't keep a good Detailer down...right???
Anyways, thank you for reading, and I will catch you around the Forum!
Go easy, and I will catch you a little farther on down the road!
