  • Hello from Wisconsin

    Hey,
I just bought my first black vehicle. Keeping it clean is a full time job! Especially right now with our crappy weather. With all the information online about detailing, i thought i should check out this forum.

    Welcome to MOL!

It's a beautiful day today but snow tomorrow, at least here in Green Bay. What part of the state are you from?

        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Taking care of black paint is like taking care of any paint, you always want to,

Evaluate the condition of the surface
Choose the right product to get the job done
Use good technique for applying and removing these products

Then whenever you wash the car, you always want to use a high quality car wash, and a soft, quality car wash mitt and drying towels.

This reporter that attended our class last Saturday kind of summed everything up really well.

We had a special guest as part of the Nash Metropolitan Sat Class on 3/15. Michael Rose from GreatCarsTV.com joined us to sit in on the class. As a result, he wrote a cool article featuring the class... Click here to see entire article (http://www.greatcarstv.com/tips/car-care-101-or-don-t-drop-that-sponge.html)

Most important is the washing step as this is the step most people do the most to their car, you can't take it to a car wash and expect your finish to remain swirl and scratch free.

You have to take "Ownership" of the washing process.

I was BlueZero over there too. Haven't been there since I sold it. I was at 15 mpg but did a lot of hwy. A few years ago a friend and I went to Zippy, that was fun. Drove up and over Lake Michigan and took the ferry back across. I really miss that truck. I bought a house so figured I better sell it to save some money.

If you need winter tires and rims for it I have a set sitting in my garage. Silver steel wheels and Bridgestone Blizzaks. I have a friend that lives in Madison so I could even almost deliver. Heck, I'd throw in all the spare parts I have laying around taking up room too.

The stock wheels seem pretty durable. They have been on the truck since 2003 and 80k miles, and i can't find a flaw in the finish. The moderatly worn Goodyears (275 55 20's) seem pretty good in the snow. The AWD is awesome. Tires for it are reasonable @ $112 ea. if i go with Kumho's (they are good tires)
What do you got for spare parts?
The previous owner already did some mods:
                  -Zippy tuned computer
                  -Vera-Ram, ram-air CAI
-NGK iridum plugs and MSD wires.
                  -MSD coils
                  -shift kit w/corvette servos
                  -4:10 rear-end (don't know if thats stock?)
                  -High flow cats
                  -Flo-Pro muffler
He ran a 14.8 @93mph on a hot day. Im setting up a race with my buddy. He has a 08 Tundra. Motor Trend says the Tundra will run 14.6 stock. Thats fast for a big truck!

Nothing very exciting. Spark plugs, oil filters, some parts for the grill, a custom sub box for a 10" under the back seat. I'm sure there is a few more odds and ends but that's all I can think of.

Sounds like your set up pretty nice already.

My buddy in Madison has the stock wheels and tires on his standard Silverado. He's due for some new tires this summer. I'll have to tell him about the Kumho's.

Get your truck polished up and post some photos!
