  • Hello from the UK

Hi there. I have just bought a new car (Ford Fiesta ST) so thought i would treat the paintwork nicely from day one. I dont have the car yet, but it willl be delivered in two weeks time.

Anyway, i just spent £100 on this little lot...

    Meguiar's NXT Car Wash
    Meguiar's Soft Wash Gel
Meguiar's Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover
    Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax
Meguiar's Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner
Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner and Conditioner
    Meguiar's NXT Tech Protectant
    Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner
    Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh
    Meguiar's The Ultimate Wash Mitt
    Meguiar's Supreme Shine Microfibre
    Meguiar's Ultra-Safe Wheel Spoke Brush
    Meguiar's Foam Applicator Pads
    Meguiar's Water Magnet Drying Towel
    Meguiar's Glass Duo-Fibre Super Towel

I cant wait to try this stuff out as i have never used any Meguiars stuff yet, im just going on recommendations.

As soon as i have used the products, i will be sure to post my findings.

    Thanks, Mark.

Just to add, as I re-read your list... you will probably want to add either a cleaner and a polish to your list to use before the Nxt wax, or add a cleaner/wax to use before the Nxt wax.

Also, if you can get your hands on a clay kit, either Smooth Surface or QuickClay, you will like that as well. Even new cars can really improve their looks from claying.

        Ok, thanks for the help.

        What would you recommend?

        Deep crystal paint cleaner
        Deep crystal polish
        Quik clay?

        That sound ok?

        Thanks again, Mark.

Well, Smooth Surface Clay is the new package, Quick Clay the old one.. just have to see what is on the shelf. I'd probably get Smooth Surface if it is available.

As far as your process, you have 2 basic options..

          1. Doing Deep Crystal #1, #2, then Nxt will probably give best results, asuming the dealership hasnt swirled your paint up. Remember single-step products will usualy work better than all-in-one type products.

          So:
          Wash
          Clay
          DC#1
          DC#2
Nxt wax - Remember 2 thin coats is best.

          2. I have a daily driver, kept outside, so it gets messed up fast. I like to use ColorX (might be Colour Boost for you) followed by #21 Synthetic Wax, but Nxt wax would work also. It just cuts out steps, so it is easier for me to detail more often.

          So:
          Wash
          Clay
          ColorX
          Nxt Wax

Both ways will look very good, it is just more effort for better results, or a little less effort for slightly less results.

If at all possible, tell you dealer not to prep the car for you. Tell them to just take the plastic wrap/pieces off, and then give it to you without letting their guys wash/wax it and risk swirling it up. Then detail it as soon as you get home.

          Hope that helps some...
