  • Brief down time Tuesday morning, August 2, 2011

Just a quick notice that MOL will experience some brief downtime tomorrow morning (Tuesday, August 2 in case you missed that in the thread title ) about 9:00AM Pacific Time that shouldn't last more than an hour. With the new forum software upgrade came a few issues that could only be addressed by the software developers, and those appear to be taken care of. The quick update should fix a few minor, but occasionally annoying, bugs.

During that hour we suggest you do one of the following:
    • Quick detail your car (a little UQD or UQW followed by a vacuuming of the interior and a bit of QID)
    • Go clean the brake dust off your wheels (if you have a German car this may take more than an hour)
    • Head over to www.meguiarsdirect.com and create a Christmas wish list that you can distribute to family, friends, or Santa Claus (the Holidays will be here before you know it, and you don't want to wait til the last minute to get started)
    • Go to your favorite car forum and make sure nobody is doing anything silly with regard to car care (every car specific forum has a detailing section - since you hang out on MOL you probably know more about this subject than anyone else over there)
    • Wash that pile of microfiber towels you have out in the garage from last weekends detail session (you were too tired to do it then, so tomorrow is the perfect time)
    • Double check that coat of wax you applied over the weekend - we think you missed a spot
    • Take your significant other out to lunch (this works better, time wise, for our East Coast members - Pacific Time members can take in a nice brunch someplace)
    • Play with your dog (dogs need exercise as much as people do, but they tend to look at it as fun, not work - reward them)
    • Play with your cat (this is nowhere near as much fun as playing with a dog because cats get bored easily and walk away, leaving you sitting there with a ball of yarn and a rubber mouse and looking just a bit silly)
    • Clean out your aquarium (your fish will thank you and, well, since you'll be cleaning something it's sort of like you're detailing, so that's a good thing, right?)
    • Guys, go do some detailing in the kitchen - countertops, stovetops, even the front of the fridge or oven. Cleaner Wax works great here, as does APC, among other things. (Warning - if you wife has a weak heart be careful as the shock of you doing something productive in the kitchen might be more than she can take)
    • Head over to carcrazycentral.com and watch two episodes of Car Crazy. They're all there and they cover all aspects of the car hobby - cool cars, great people. What more could you ask for?

Starting an overspray & tree sap removal on a Chevy Avalanche at 5am tomorrow.

I wish I had something easier and more fun to do listed above.

I'll be dealing with my group of 2nd grade campers at that time.

I could always bring them out to somebody's car and tell them to have at it with some waterless wash followed by some wax lol. Of course somebody else's car........they would never touch mine.

I like your list better than the other half's list. Your list is already done so I will work on hers.
