forgive me if i posted this in the wrong forum -- believe it or not i just tried mother's mag and aluminum wheel polish on my aluminum wheel -- just a small area of the wheel i might add -- and now i have a black mark on my wheel -- literally -- i need help and fast -- open to any and all suggestions --

Most aluminum polishes will turn black as they work. Do you have any pictures that you can share so that we have a better idea of what's going on?

sorry no pictures -- this wheel is clear coated titanium tinted aluminum alloy (2004 Nissan Pathfinder LE Platinum Edition) -- is it possible that the polish removed the clear coating on this area --

If there is a clear coat you should not be pulling any color from the surface. The only product I would recommend for this wheel are wax or cleaner wax to help protect the surface. This also helps to prevent brake dust from bonding to the surface as easily.

okay -- let me restate the nissan wheel description -- six-spoke platinum-color aluminum-alloy wheels -- so if there is color involved i could/should be able to remove this eyesore -- how? --

Try cleaner wax to remove the color. This product is clear coat safe and cleans well.

thanx again tom -- would this be cleaner wax for wheels or cleaner wax that's use on the body of a vehicle --

paint cleaner wax. But the same rules would apply for these wheels because they have a clear coat on them. Most major auto part stores should carry this product, get the liquid..
