But that's why there are so many products. You assume that everybody has the same type of paint, the same problem, the same environment, the same look they're after - that's just not true. Having just a few products is the easy way out, but how much research really goes into that? With Meguiar's, a problem had is a problem solved. You'll be sorely pressed to find a company that truly cares about your car as much as you do, and I really mean that.

I can understand your confusion.

First of all since this is your first post on MOL, Welcome aboard!

A little bit of my history here. I came here after I had used detailing clay for the first time and could not believe the results. Shortly after I fell in love with NXT. As I read an read the forums, I was like wow, there are so many products for so many different purposes. I was a new guy here and was confused as all heck. With the help of all of these people here I began to understand why there are so many products. Why there are so many different kinds of paint types, and what the differences are. As you go along and read, you will understand also. It really all depends on you and how involved in detailing you want to be. Do you want to do show car detailing, maintenance detailing on your daily driver, detail on the side for some extra cash, detail cars to absolute perfection, etc. Our forum is here just for people like you to sort out the confusion and learn about detailing products and processes.

I pretty much have anything you could imagine in my detailing arsenal product wise, and I use them all at different times. It is like I said though you have to find out what works best for you. I have a feeling, that you will get as hooked as we are on perfecting you skills and your paint.
It's like Mike Phillips always says, "Find something you like and use it often".

Not only will you learn, you will make friends and aquaintenances here that will last a lifetime.

First off, let me say I'm suprised I didn't get booted off the forum for a post like that. I should have taken a deep (deeper) breath and thought it out a little better.

Mike...guys...you all have been great.

That's another thing about Meguiars products they ALL work so good you don't know if you should try a new one or stick with the old. Anyhoo, thanks to you guys for letting a real jerk get his two cents in. I still have a couple questions but will try to be nicer in the future.

I think it was mentioned above but I'll say what I wanted to say after reading your (edited for content...Mike Pennington) post... What you're asking for is for every detailer out there to be without a job and for everyone to buy the same car, with the same paint and move to the same city...

Why not just keep using what works for you?... no need to try new things if old works just fine.

There should be a rule where people have to do at least 5-10 minutes of research before posting on an online forum...

Do I want No. 7,No. 9, do I want Body Shop Polish do I want No. 3 do I want Ultimate Finishing Polish, Scratch X, Swirl X, New Car Glaze, Show Car Glaze, Body Shop Swirl Free Polish, Deep Crystal System Polish, Color X or any other of a hundred "pure ultimate shine polish gloss enhancement" systems or treatments or steps or compounds that will do 99% of the same thing that the others will do.
So maybe after reading the above threads I'll find one product that works, everyday not on odd Thursdays or days with a high or low barometric pressure.

We often times hear comments similar to yours. The light at the end of the tunnel is, once you become familiar with the brand and process of detailing, it is actually easy to choose the right product and get great results with little effort

If you stand back and look at our product selection it is similar to looking at a mechanics tool box....Lots and lots of tools....Those tools are all used for different tasks....

Our selection is similar as Andy stated with car care. Different conditions for each car, different expectations of each owner, and we have the tools for all

Another option we wanted to toss out to you. You can always call our Customer Care Center if you wish to talk with a live person. They are all employees of ours, and are very familiar / experienced with car care and can also answer / guide you with any questions you may have.

They can be found at 800-347-5700 6 days a week

Yes, it can be frustrating. The one thing that I find hardest to discover when talking detailing to friends/customers etc....is determining EXACTLY what it is they want to accomplish. Every one has an idea of the results, look, durability and ease of use they are after. Hence, many different products. It may take you a few trys to zero in on what you like best. But it will happen here.......for sure.

Meguiars has many great products. They have a variety of products with different names for different reasons. What you see at the local store is good for someone that takes care of their own car(s) but may not be aggressive enough for the professional. Usually the items they carry in the stores are smaller sizes then a professional will need. So the detailer and Mirror glaze lines have the bulk sizes suitable for the pro with a great price as well.

Again, thanks for the comments (most of you). I'm lucky to have a professional body supply shop that is open on the way home from work. So after some more homework and a few well placed questions here I can get exactly what I need
