I understand the economics of mfg your own unit but with Meguiar's name on it a little tighter QC was in order.I am sure they will get the bugs worked out but for now I will be patient. IMO

4 years with a rotary if it is used every day is actual very good. Do you run yours unloaded at full rpm to keep the motor cool durning long buff jobs ? It will help tremendously.

Re: Replacement g110 gone bad....
FWIW I had two brand new Dewalt rotary buffers out of the box at the same time that wouldn't work - one tripped a breaker instantly the other had a bad cord. The one with the bad cord went to the local Dewalt service center and they fixed it right away the other got returned. Again both were brand new - I guess things happen!Brandon

Unfortunately you got 2 bad machines which is very rare. Like Mike Stoops said, you don't see threads of "Hey I got my G110 and it works great" and the posts behind it.
I was told by my dad and several old guys while growing up.....use the correct extension cord for what tool your using otherwise the tool can fail. Don't use the cheapo multi plug extension to run power tools or the cheapo little orange extension cords at your local Walmart. Use larger gauge wired extension cord. I use 12ga extension cord, especially for long durations and you can still feel the heat in the cord. Plug in a 14-16 gauge cord and run your tool for an hour or so and grab your cord.....It will be hot and it's bad for your power tools. My dad and others have seen many power tools go bad from this. FYI!
Edit: My dad is an Electrician for the last 45+ years and all his buddies are related to construction and not just some old guy spatting info on this.
Sorry for your pain.
Whenever I had a problem with anything Meguiar's (which has been very little) I was rewarded for my pain. When I got my G100, I thought it wasn't working right. I then asked and plead to have it tested by someone who knew how to use them and my G100 ended up at an Open Garage and used by Mike P. himself! Turned out the machine was just fine and I needed to practiceI later contributed it to pad saturation. My point is, when I got my G100 back (I paid for shipping to them and did not ask for it in return), I got the new and improved at the time W67DA backing plate which was great! (to which I sent my W64DA to a MOL member who needed one). And....I did not send back a good machine.
Give em a call, tell them your problem with it and get a new one. I believe Meguiar's takes care of and looks into any problems!

Re: Replacement g110 gone bad....
I bought 3 alternators in the same day and all were bad and they were from different shops!
Just remember, things break and like posted before, there are thousands of the G110s sold and work fine. Things are just more concentrated here so you hear it about it faster and more often.......it seems.www.clean4udetailing.com
