  • Urgent help with shipping needed

    Hi everyone,

I am from Malaysia. Just got into car detailing and wanted to get some Meguire's stuff from the estore (the price is almost doubled here). I would like to get them sent to my friend who is in US (will be leaving for Malaysia on 25 Jan 2006). As she knows nothing about car detailing stuff I will order, pay, and have it sent to her so she just brings the box back home.

    My questions are:
    1. What is the shipping charge like? I can't find any info about this in the e-store.

    2. How long does it take for Meguire's to ship it to Columbus, Ohio after I place the order and pay? Will it be able to arrive before 25 Jan if I place the order tomorrow?

    3. What is the packaging like? Will it be suitable for checking in for flight? Do I have an option to have it packed so that it can be checked in?

    4. Will foreign credit card be accepted?

    5. I have read thru this forum, it seems that there are high chances that shipment received might have problems and I am very worried about this (my friend doesn't know about these stuff and she won't check it through the parcel received). Anyone think this is of high risk?

I have written to Meguire's since Saturday but haven't got any reply from them, can't call them yet because of time zone. Thanks for any feedback on these.

    regards.

Well, let me try and help a little right away.. though I dont have all the answers.

    1. The charge is something like: ( I dont have my paper with me).
$5 for orders up to $15.
$6 for orders up to $20.
$7 for orders up to $25, etc. There is a limit eventualy.

But that is a rough idea.

    2. I have never had it take 9 days, but that also doesnt leave much time for any back-ordered products, etc.

    3. The packaging is a card-board box, with foam pop-corn filler. Depending on what is orderd, you could end up with more than one box.

    4. No Idea.

    5. I have never had any problems, and have orderd 3 or 4 times. Is she returning to the Malaysia permanently? or goes back and forth?

      Thanks Murr1525 for your help.

She is going back to US again after a few months I think (but I am itchy to get things started.) Actually she was my high school teacher with 2 little kids. Feel bad bothering her so much.

Will Meguire's estore tell me which products are back-ordered? If they don't have the stock now, then I prefer not to buy them first.

I am checking out autodetailingsolutions.com as well. Anyone has experience with them before?

      Cheers.

        Hi Yhuihui

I also from Malaysia. Why not you just buy directly from US and they send it to you. I just received my order last week, it seem all the stuff in good condition. Go to autodetailingsolutions and you will find Meguiar's stuff there.

        Happy shopping.

            Hi Desa,

Thanks for that. I have checked out autodetailingsolutions.com, but no idea of their shipping cost to Malaysia.

May I know how much you paid for shipping & tax (are these stuff taxable?) and how long did it take to reach you?

            Thanks.

Yes you can buy from Hypercoat, Ace Hardware or HomeFix, but for my area Penang and Kedah is hard to find any Meguiar products, and for me to drive to KL and buy the product there is a waste (300km from my area), i rather buy from ADS.

                  Hi yhuihui,

The shipping cost depanding what you oder. for my first oder (about 13 items) it cost me about USD40 and get the stuff in one month (using surface shipment) and tax about RM180.

My second oder is using Air and it take 2 week to arive.

btw, Please ask ADS to prepare 2 invoice for you, one for you and one for customs(ask them to adjust the invoice not more than 50USD including shipping charge) it will lower your tax.

Just imaging for one microfiber selling RM50 at HomeFix but i can get 3 microfiber for USD8.99 (8.99 * 3.8 =RM34.16) at ADS. after shipping and tax = about RM65 for 3 microfiber.

                    Thanks a million Desa.

That's the point. No matter how, I think it is still cheaper getting them overseas than buying here.

I bought some stuff that I need over last weekend when Homefix has 15% discount for Meguiar's range. Will think about getting ADS to ship over when I need to replenish my stock.

Well, maybe I will plan a trip to Las Vegas during Christmas so that I can ship these Meguiar's home haha.
