  • Pix of my car after 5 step process

Ok. Good news is I've finally figured out how to post a picture.

Bad news is, I havn't figured out how to make an album. So instead of showing just 1 picture it shows all the pics I've uploaded to my photobucket. [not exactly an ideal way to share a picture[s].. Ugh I hate being a noob with this tech stuff >.>

Well anyways, that's what my car looks like after the 5 step process working by hand.
Just yesterday I offered someone a ride home from a mutual friends house, and when he saw my car he said damn! Is that a new paintjob? I laughed and said "nah, but I did wax it recently"

There's still some swirls on the hood that I'm planning on attacking soon, But overall it's not bad for a 17yr old car that looked like it hadn't been washed in over a year, when I bought it 3 months ago

Meguiars 5 step process really works! A little passion & elbow grease makes it all worth while

      ^^ There you go.

      Looks good!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thx Davey! But the OCD in me can't stop looking at the swirls on my hood:p
...The thing is, when I corrected the paint I started with the hood and did 1 application of UC by hand with microfiber applicator pads, then went onto UP and did 2 applications of the polish.. It wasn't until after the hood that I decided I'd do 2 applications of both UC & UP on the rest of the car... And now when I compare the hood to the trunk I notice the trunk looks far better... there's still swirls that can be seen in the sunlight, they're very light compared to the hood which only got 1 application of UC. I guess it's part of the learning process.
Speaking of learning, I just signed up for the detailing class next Sat. at the Meguiars garage. I can't wait to soak up more knowledge and can't thank you guys enough [the community here on MOL] for the tons of helpfull info I've learned in the past few months!

The last time I had corrected the paint on a car was back in 2007. Things have come a long way since the Deep Crystal 3 process that's for sure

Looks good. I would recommend purchasing a dual action polisher to give you better results than by hand.

            I think you're right Guz^
Let me rephrase that.. I know you're right.

I had a breakthough moment last night as far as where my research took me.. And for the 1st time the concept of stepping up to a DA polisher seems to be a real possibility in the near future:]

You should make a trip down to Meguiars HQ on what, March 20th.. for the first TNOG .. Thursday Night Open Garage of 2014...

This way Senior Mike Stoops can personally instruct you on how to wield a buffer and battle those paint correction demons.

Also you can get firsthand product knowledge and advice. Then after dinner, you have the ability to buy whatever products you want onsite and have all of the means for another weekend project.

So what that tells us, Ric, is that you've discovered something we teach in the Saturday Classes: sometimes you need more than one pass to get the level of correction you need/want. It also tells us that you already know how to get the hood looking the way you want - just repeat what you did on the trunk.

Speaking of Saturday Classes, since you'll be here this weekend you'll get a chance to use the G110v2 yourself and see just how easy it is to use to great effect.
