  • Should I use #7 now?

I just used NXT 2.0 liquid to wax my black tahoe last weekend. I have washed it 3 times since then (lots of rain). I am dying to use the meguiars #7 then wax it again. If I used it now so close to when it was waxed would I still get the full effect? Or would the #7 not fully do its polishing job with the wax on it?

While you can use it now and then apply a new coat of NXT Tech Wax 2.0 on top of it, you are correct in assuming that you won't get the full effect from it.

We would suggest either waiting until it's time to wax again, or remove the majority of wax via either a quick clay bar treatment or a quick once over with something like SwirlX or even some Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner if you happen to have some laying around (it's a discontinued product but would do the job).

Is there a video on how to correctly apply and remove #7? I have heard stories of it being hard to remove.

No video specific to M07, but the key is to wipe it off before it dries. It is a fairly "heavy" feeling product so it's not like a wax at all. You want to apply a small amount to an area maybe 2' x 2' at the most, just work it lightly against the surface for a minute or so and wipe off while still wet.

If you let it dry, which you are not supposed to do, then it certainly can be difficult to remove.

Michael...in regards to #7 and Deep Crystal Polish...what's the main difference between the two? I'm planning to use Deep Crystal on my black GMC Acadia after I've done a treatment of Ultimate Compound...so I was curious as to what the difference is between the two.

Deep Crystal Polish is derived from M07 but is going to be a bit easier to use since it's a consumer product. While M07 would be considered the premium product of the two (if you wanted to get really picky about it) we really doubt you'd notice a difference in final appearance when using them on a modern clear coat finish.

I applied m07 today and it seemed like the product was drying before I could even work it in to a minute. I just applied some to the pad and went over the paint with two passes. Then i wiped off. Is this enough?
How much are we suppose to apply for a 2'x2'? a quarter drop?

Re: Should I use #7 now?

It could be that you weren't using quite enough product, so the little bit that was being used was drying quickly. If you used barely a quarter sized drop that sounds pretty light - use maybe double that amount.

Applying #7 by hand, what kind of applicator pad should he be using: microfiber or foam?

I think you would do best with the foam.

I learned when it dried that it was VERY tough to get off. I have since learned when to take it off and never had a situation since and I have used it 3 times on 3 different cars.
