  • Wax usage (Zymol Glasur)

Some people have been asking me how much product I use when I wax using Glasur, so I thought I'd measure.
    Mass before waxing:

Mass after waxing 1/2 of my 300C (~45 square feet)

I used 8 grams of wax to do what would be most of a compact car.

I'm going to be finishing up the car later tonight or tomorrow morning and will measure the final amount used for the whole car, I'm anticipating that it will come out to about 12-13 grams for the whole enormous full-size family car.
The container is approximately 100 grams, so I have about 180 grams of wax left, or 18 more waxings of my 300C or 25+ waxings of my Porsche 944 (very small hatchback, maybe 40 square feet of paint). That comes down to $3.30 per waxing of the Porsche as I've waxed it 5 times already with Glasur. I'll probably not use it again on the 300C as I think I like the way that MPPP looks on the greenish silver clear coated paint, and I'll use that for special occasions in the future, leaving the Glasur for the Porsche or customers who need their wallets lightened.

I'm going to start doing this for all of my waxes to see how much is actually used.

Interesting! Make sure to keep up posted on how much you use with other waxes too!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

How can you have 100 gram container and 180 grams of wax remaining? Either it's 200 grams for the container and 180 remaining, or you have a 100 gram container and only have 80 grams of wax left.
NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

I think he meant the container weighs 100 grams, not holds 100 grams.

That is correct. The lid was 50 grams and has about the same amount of material as the base, leading to the 100 gram estimate.

I was right, I used about 13 grams in total. Didn't take a picture on the scale though.

Hi justin.Have you tried the other Zymol wax or glazes?

              How do you find Glasur?

At least you have used this product and can help when there is a discussion.

I haven't tried any of their other products so far, but it's not for lack of want. I'm probably going to pick up a bottle of Field Glaze in the coming weeks and maybe some other stuff too.
I love Glasur on my black Porsche, but on my silver 300C it looks good but not GREAT like it does on the Porsche. On the 300 I prefer synthetics because of sterile-looking, dry, silvery shine that they impart on the paint. On dark colors I like carnaubas for the deep, wet look they give. Reds, Blacks, Blues, and Dark Grays would look great with Glasur. Light Blues, Silvers, Whites, Yellows, Light Greens, and Light Grays look better with MPPP or Menzerna FMJ
