  • Ultimate Quik Wax removal

UQW has become on of my favorite go-to products for keeping my daily driver looking like a show car as much as possible (both in reality and in my mind's eye). Even got a compliment this morning from an owner of a 1960 Rolls Royce & Bentley who thought my paint job was custom

But one of my minor peeves with UQW is how difficult it is to see even after it's dried. I find myself polishing panels with perhaps a tad more pressure than necessary to ensure that I've removed the residue and worked the product onto the paint.

Since the easiest panel for me to see results of my buffing is off my hood, I try to base the pressure I apply to the rest of my panels based upon what I used for the hood. But I worry at times that I lapse into scrubbing the panels rather than polishing them. (I use a supreme shine to apply the wax following Mike's advice to prime the towel with product, and I use a plush MF drying towel to remove it)

Anyone else have similar experiences> Any tips or advice?

I know. Just have to apply it super thin, and assume you covered everything and removed it from everything I guess.

I use a single SS towel folded into fourths to apply, and remove the product from my entire vehicle. I still have dry sections leftover when finished.

I spray the product either directly onto the panel (if it won't create overspray issues, get on surfaces I don't want it on etc), or directly onto the towel, and then systematically buff it over a single panel. I use overlapping motions and then turn the towel to a dry side for the final pass.

I haven't missed anything yet doing that. Just focus on what you are doing and don't use erratic motions- follow the body lines, work outside in, left to right, etc- whatever works for you.

Are you guys letting the UQW dry? I thought you were just supposed to spread the wet product, work it a little, and then remove the wet residue with a dry side of the towel.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

        I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
        Remove swirls my friends.

The couple times I used it so far, I have been going around the car once applying it, then back around once removing it.

          Hopefully thats right?

Letting it dry. I start on the hood, roof, and trunk lid, then work the side panels, doors, and bumper covers, the retrace my steps in the same order to remove the product.

            Apply to entire vehicle
Start at one section of the vehicle and continue applying Ultimate Quik Wax using your dampened applicator pad or dampened microfiber polishing cloth until the entire car is covered with a thin coating of wax.

Allow the thin coating of Ultimate Quik Wax to flash dry.
In normal temperatures and humidity, Ultimate Quik Wax will dry in just a few moments and will be ready to wipe off.

            Follow your path of travel
Wipe off the dried wax by starting where you first applied the product and then follow your path of travel gently and carefully wiping the dried residue off the paint. Use a separate, clean dry microfiber polishing cloth folded 4 ways to remove the dried film of wax. Using a microfiber polishing cloth folded 4-ways provides a thick plush wiping cloth that helps to spread the pressure of your hand out over the surface of the cloth and gives you 8 sides to wipe with.

I do a panel at a time letting it sit for about 30 seconds before wiping.
