  • Yellow Dust?

I detailed my car on Saturday and Sunday night I noticed a yellow dust all over the car. I was wondering what part of the process I made my mistake on. I applyed the deep crystal system with NXT 2.0 between step two and thee and did it all by hand. Any advice would be great.

It's probably pollen. I know around here the pollen count is really high. The hood of my car looked like it was yellowish-green instead of dark grey yesterday.

      Just to double check,

The dust problem was after you were finished?

As in, after you detailed your car you're now finding dust on the clean, shiny paint?

Or as you were applying the different product the products themselves were causing a dust problem on the paint?

check the weather in your area, usually they have a pollen count and you can see what your conditions were and keep and eye out for that in the future.

Yep, it's pollen. I can't keep my car clean this time of year. Can't wait 'til pollen season is over!

Ya its pollen. Noticed it today on a lot of cars in my area.

@Mike: It was noticeable the day after.

Appears as though a forum consensus has been reached. If you haven't tried Ultimate Quik Detailer yet, pick up a bottle and take it for a test drive, it's truly a phenomenal product for paint in excellent condition.

                    Re: Yellow Dust?

In my experience, UQD works great for light dust, but not so much for pollen. The pollen is really bad right now (as in I've washed my car and 2 or 3 hours later I can't tell that I did anything ), so trying to remove it with a California Duster or a quick detailer just smears the pollen around. I keep on the pollen problem by just rinsing the car and drying it off. No problems with this method as long as the car doesn't have dirt and stuff on it. Gets kind of old doing it that way, but this time of year you just have to live with it unless your car is garaged all the time.

                      Re: Yellow Dust?

Same yellow coating every day here in North Carolina (bug gut green I call it). After I got a good coat of NXT 2 on the car, I could just drive to work (30 miles, avg 40 MPH) and the worst of it was gone. The windshield was the worst if I had to use the wipers, makes nasty lines along the sides. Dusting the rest off with an MF towel seemed to work.

                      Cheers!

                        Get a duster
As long as it's dry, you can dust it off
I remember when I lived in Mass. and this happened to me for the first time
I was all freaked out and couldn't believe it.
Living in Ca my whole life it was just freaky!
I jumped on a plane the next day, left all my stuff and my "yellow" car! LOL!

Hoffer, I'm a half hour south of you and I'm getting the same thing down here. It's all over the place, I dust the car off with a California Duster and within an hour there's more pollen on the cars.

                            Re: Yellow Dust?

It lasted for 3 months here in central Florida and this was six weeks ago. Photos taken less than two days after cleaning truck and driveway. Three weeks later it was pretty much gone after some strong winds and rain, finally. I probably had a total of at least 50 large garbage bags of leaves and pollen since January. Worst year that I can remember. That's a lot of raking!

                            Hang in there!

Wiped right off for me with a micro fiber towel. Now it looks the same from when I got done detailing the car.
