After looking at the Zymol site this $274 can of wax seems inferior.

      Re: $274 can of wax

I agree with Aaron and some of the others, if the car is prepped correctly, and the right wax is used, then I don't think you can tell the difference. I know I couldn't. Since I have been on this site I have received more compliments on how my vehicles look than ever before and I am sure it is because of the prep and Meguiar's.

If I got the cash, then I wont mind trying the E-zyme... but for now, M26 is all I need. Good price and good quality product. On a properly prep surface, its absolutely fantastic.

                  Re: $274 can of wax

On an equally prepared finish I would put M26, NXT 2.0 or Gold Class up against anything on the market.

Either both sides will look so similar that it will be hard to tell the difference except in your pocket book or I would give the edge to the Meguiar's product for depth, clarity and richness of color.

                          Re: $274 can of wax

Let's make sure when we discuss products, people and companies we do it in a way that is positive and/or constructive but doesn't cross the line into bashing.

If someone can sell a car wax for hundreds and even thousands of dollars then more power to them, it's obvious they've mastered the art of marketing. As far as people that buy these types of products goes, it's their money and if they are convinced they are receiving good value for their money than everyone wins.

Win/Win business is good for all parties.

I've purchased a few high dollar boutique products but in each case it was for the purpose of testing, not because I was convinced it would perform better than something available for less money.

In my opinion, anyone who can actually afford that kind of wax probably isn't waxing their car theirself - they're probably paying somebody else to do it for them. What's the point? You can get so much more for so much less. Oh well. There's a sucker for every sales pitch.

And on this point I would totally agree with you and the others who have voiced a similar opinion. In judging pure looks, although highly subjective, I believe my Corvette when topped with NXT 2.0 looks every bit as good as sealants costing much more. When I layer Gold Class or Pinnacle SSII over the NXT 2.0 it takes the depth and liquidity to an amazing level which is hard to do on metallic silver cars.

But some of the appeal and allure of the boutique waxes are they offer things NXT 2.0 or other products simply cannot. True wipe on/wipe off application for starters. The ability to not stain trim and mouldings as another. These factors make those waxes desirable to those who value those characteristics NXT, Gold Class, et al do not.

If it takes you 20 to 30 minutes to apply a layer of NXT to a car and another 15 to 30 to let dry (depending on temp, humidity, etc) plus wipedown and chasing all the little wiping marks on trim and mouldings so as not to stain them you can easily have an hour or more invested in wax application. If you use a true non-staining and wipe-on/wipe-off product that goes on and comes off wet immediately you can cut that time in half or more. Is that worth $250 over a bottle of NXT? All depends on your perspective. But those characteristics can be found in waxes costing $30 or $40 a jar (like Pinnacle SSII) so that makes the difference minimal for the gain.

Like Mike says, stick with a product that you enjoy using and looks good to you and continue to use it. But I think a lot of forum members are quick to focus on how the looks compare versus the sometimes vastly different application benefits and conveniences of these boutique waxes.
