At a car and bike show last weekend I ran into an old pin striping friend I had not seen for 10 years or so. He had set up and was striping bikes and cars in the parking lot where the show was. I had been considering some tasteful striping on my car for awhile so I let him do his thing. I took the car home and washed it twice with Dawn dish washing liquid and brought it back to him. He didn't have a rag, and I should have seen it coming, but I wasn't paying attention and he used a soft paper table napkin from the cafe' next door to apply some cleaner where he was going to run a stripe. He did a really nice job and said I should wait about a week before I washed the car to give the paint time to cure. Got the car home and pulled it into the garage and then I saw them.............arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... tiny scratches where he used the napkin to clean. I'm hoping that ScratchX and paint polish will get rid of them but it's going to be a real job because it's so close to the pin striping. If I'm not able to get the job done I'll be seeing him next month and I'll see what he can do. Any ideas that might make the job a bit easier?
