  • Can these be applied by hand (#7, #9, #26) ??

    Okay, that's a dumb question... as I'm sure all three can be applied by hand. But I've never seen these products before and I went to a different Pep Boys (auto parts) store today and saw them for sale.

    #7 (showcar glaze - pure polish)
    #9 (swirl remover)
    #26 (hi-tech yellow wax)

    Would the #9 be more effective at removing swirls by hand than ScratchX or ColorX would? I've used both of those products before with decent results but nothing amazing.

    Basically looking for anyone who's used these products by hand and what kind of results they got.

    Would I use them in this order: #9 --> #7 --> #26

    Is #26 better than NXT 2.0, i.e. is it worth buying to use instead of, or in conjunction with the 2.0 I already have?

    Sorry for my typical 24-questions-style post.... I searched the forums a bit but couldn't find much because the search wouldn't find numbers haha.

    Thanks in advance!

    Yes they can all be applied by hand. Depending upon what you're trying to accomplish, machine application may yield best results.
    (Like trying to remove swirls)

    If you look at the picture on the bottle of #9 it shows Mike Pennington using a rotary buffer. This is an "indicator" of how best results for removing swirls with this product are achieved.

    #8 is a very light cleaner/polish, no more aggressive than ScratchX, so you won't get any better or worse results than you did with the other two products. If you want to remove swirls and you're working on clear coat paints, then you want to move towards getting into machine polishing.

      Thanks for the quick response. I think I'm at that point where my detailing isn't going to get any better until I invest in a machine. Much appreciated.

        It's a good investment if you really want to aim for show car results.

        It's interesting how many people come to our Saturday classes with the belief that the best finishes are always achieved by hand.

        Then after the class everyone wants to step up to machine cleaning and polishing as the results are better and achieved faster and easier.

          I've been using a cheap little orbital for a few weeks now and like it so much that I think I'm going to jump for the DA polisher.
