  • removinhg high content carnauba wax...

I read a few times now (can't find the posts anywhere for the life of me right now, sorry) that it is actually recommended to to use a slightly damp towel to remove carnauba waxes with contents over 40% by volume (ex. dodo juice, Migliore primo blend, Pinnecle Souveran, etc.). Has anyone tried this to confirm? Just out of curiousity, I know the products can be a pain to remove when the proper amount isn't used, or you don;t let it cure long enough. Thanks guys.

I have heard something like this, I think the guy called it spitshining, but it was more to enhance gloss or something like that. It does seem that using some water would make it easier to remove hard wax, but I'm not sure.

Just a tip, if you find yourself with a hard wax to remove there are a couple ways to make the removal easier.

      1. You can reapply the same wax and then remove once it passes the "swipe" test. On the surface, this seems a bit crazy, but its worked for me in the past...and I think other MOL members can chime in on this.

      2. You can mist the wax with a QD (M34 or Last Touch) and that should make removal a bit easier. I would avoid Ultimate Quick Detailer (UQD) for this, it's a bit pricey and I'm not sure how the hydrophobic properties might be altered by applying over a dry wax surface.

A wax like Pinnical Sourveran is a wipe on, wipe off product so there is no swipe test, or hazing that needs to be done before removal..just work one section at a time and remove with a towel like the Ultimate Wipe.
