  • Winter Clean I love Qew!!!! (Pics)

Well today was my first experience with QEW. I dont know how I have been able to go through winter without this is truly an amazing product. Heres my process and products used:

2 Buckets one filled all the way up with plain water the other with 2 gallons water and 2 ounces with qew.

I used a total of 3 sheepskin mitts, tire brush, 2 water magnets, and a few mf towels. Also had a old #34 bottle filled with a capful (1/2 ounce) mixed with water. I brought out some #34 with me but didnt end up using it.

    Process:
I used the spray bottle with the qew mix and pre-soaked the panel then used a mitt dipped in qew (not dripping mostly wrung out) and gently wped the panel. Then threw the dirty mitt in the bucket of clean water while I dried the panel I just washed using the magnet to get most water up then followed with a mf. Making sure to wring the mitt out before dipping back in the qew and using a damp mitt to wash not a soaking wet one.

I used 3 mitts to wash one to wash the roof, hood, and left side, the second to do the trunk and right side, and the third to do the fender lips and wheels, the tire brush was used on the tires with qew.

I did the fender lips, and wheels last just to clarify. Heres some pics.

I used Hot Shine on tires.
Any Questions or tips please feel free. Thanks. Greg.

nice photos, it truly is a nice, easy to use product on all exterior
    surfaces.

I like to give a light mist of Q.D. on each panel prior to using the
QEW, gives it a nice shine after its dried.

My only input would be that to me, it looks like you used way too much of the QEW; it doesn't need the mix to be that strong in order for it to work effectively (at least not in my experience with it).

Also you might consider adding some of the #34 directly to your mix next time; I find that it helps with lubricity and leaves everything nice and glossy when you finish.

The instructions for QEW say to use 1 ounce of QEW per gallon of water. That is what he did and I would recommend he continue to do so. I have used QEW exclusively in the winter for the past two years and follow the instructions for the mix ratio and never had a problem.

I've been using QEW for about that same ammount of time as a "winter exclusive," and also extensively during "detailing season." I've never used that much of the QEW in my mix, and I've never had a problem either. I was merely pointing out someplace where he could get away with saving some product (and money).

To each his own, but in my mind the instructions on the bottle are merely a suggestion; you can vary from the label and get just as good (if not better) results.

You won't find it at pep boy's, and probably not walmart. Any RV dealer should be able to get it for you, if they don't have it already.

Just curious what mix ratio you use? I have always used 1 ounce per gallon of water but I might be willing to use less if it works well and can save me some product. I have 3 one gallon jugs now of QEW

I used QEW for the first time this weekend. After 10 days of sub-zero temperatures it warmed up to a balmy +10 on Sunday. I let the black beast set outside on the driveway for a few hours hoping to warm the paint enough to go after it with the QEW. I mixed 2 gallons of warm water and 2 ounces of QEW in each of two buckets with 3 ounces of QD in each. Using two Meguiars wash mits and two Meg’s MF towels I went after it.

Let me say the car was a 20 footer, meaning it looked OK from twenty feet away but any closer you could tell it was in dire need of a wash. I used the two bucket washing technique and wrung enough product from the mitts so they were not dripping wet. I let only the weight of the wash mitt do the wiping. I slowly made one pass across the length of the panel I was working on and flipped it over to make another pass below it. I immediately dabbed, not wiped, the product from the surface with the MF towel. Toss mitt in rinse bucket and repeat on another area with the clean mitt. Any areas that were streaked I went over with QD then cleaned the outside glass with a 50/50 mixture of NXT glass cleaner and warm water. To my astonishment it looked GREAT, mind you not a good as an old fashioned hose wash but, fantastic for only being ten degrees above zero, (sorry no pics). Total time was about 35 minutes and probably less than a gallon of frozen water on my driveway.

The QEW ($9.95/16oz) & QD mixture worked fabulous. Here is an opportunity for Meguiars to produce a similar product. Chime in Mike Phillips.

Does QEW has some sort of wax in it?
There's some talk about QEW and Optimum NRWS. And NRWS contain no wax and yada yada. To me, I dont mind at all.

I have use both and both it's awesome

My understanding is that QEW has some wax in it and Optimum NRW has some polymers in it. Granted neither has enough wax or polymer to replace actually waxing your car. They're just in there basically to give the car a smoother finish when you're done.

Oh, it's your article, the one with the Taurus?
It inspired me alot and now I use QEW all the time. I use it eventhough I have a heated garage where I can wash. It saves time when I only want to get some light dirt off or after hosing the worst grime of first.
Thank you for the article and inspiration.
