Alternatives to spurs for wool pads?

Hi all. I can't find my spur in my black hole--I mean tool box--so I tried going to three different paint and body shops in town and nobody carries them. They all said the same thing--everybody is just using stirring sticks instead.

This scares the heck out of me. Since their wood, couldn't the pad pick up splinters? Anybody else use something other than a spur with success? I'm trying to do some work on my car this weekend and don't want to wait for mail order!

You could use something that is in the shape of a stirring stick but is metal. I believe I have seen somewhere that people have used the flat part on garden picks like these instead of spurs

I had Joe from SS working with me one day and here is what he found in my customers garage that worked just fine......kind of like Andrew's pic....lol

In the hands of the unexperienced this could be dangerous "DO NOT ATTEMPT"......JMO

I have a Vacula blow gun with a pointy metal tip that I use for my wool pads. Works great and blow all the dirt and debris out like a champ.

That's a great pic Superior. I'm pretty sure I left my hockey mask wherever my spur is though
