washing wool pad ?

I have the double sided wool pad and a cleaning spur. I don't have a pad cleaning tool like the system 2000. What would be the best method to give my wool pad a thorough cleaning?

Wash it by hand in the kitchen sink with warm water and dawn?

or

Wash it in the washing machine like micro fiber clothes?

Can it be dried in the dryer?
