  • white dots on car's surface

    Hello,

I have a Mersedes benz w211 black and I have now noticed lots of white dots all over my paint and the surface is a little bit rough. I don't know what they are and where they came from. does anyone have such problem? and what should I do?

    Here are the pictures...

    Welcome!

Unfortunately I can't see your pictures.

...But my first suggestion would be to clay the surface.

        Thanks for reply.
Can you define what does "to clay" mean?

Rubbing car detailing clay such as the one found in this kit:

over the surface, aided by a lube such as the Quik Detailer (also found in that kit). It will safely lift bonded contaminants off the paint's surface.

The clay in that kit is pretty mild and Meguiars does make more aggressive ones if that doesn't do the job for you. The more aggressive ones can marr the paint though, but nothing that a good compound/polish won't fix.

Used this clay kit system for the first time on a car which was less than 2 months old, and was amazed at how many contaminants the clay removed.

Just have to remember a few things:

              1. Do a small section at a time (2 ft x 2 ft section)
              2. Keep the surface well-lubricated while you're rubbing
              3. Knead the clay throughout the process to keep a clean surface in touch with the paint
              4. Throw away the piece you're working with when it becomes darker, or if you happen to drop it ()

Instructions are easy to follow and the product works well.

Curious though: Does Meguiar's sell the clay separately, or do you have to buy a whole new kit when you run out?

They sell this one in their professional line up. I have seen the mild one at my local pep boys.

                Mild

                Aggressive

If you are looking for something over the counter I have had good results with the clay magic clay bar. They are sold individually in a plastic yellow packet. I have seen them at pep boys and oreilly. I think it's about $10 a bar.

These pictures just appeared for some reason - they weren't there when I made my previous posts.

It's hard to tell what is the white dots you refer to and what is simply the metallic flake in your paint, but I'd say you've got some overspray on there. Was anybody spray painting around the vehicle where you parked it? Anyway, clay should remove that.

It also looks like you've got quite a lot of moderate swirls in your paint. We can help you fix those too if they bother you.

No, it was not. and it can't be overspray because it is all over the car, so it really looks like moderate swirls and i hope your offers would help. Thanks

These are some very good videos to watch. I recommend you invest in a dual action polisher to save time and give you better results than doing it by hand.

What if the paint is damaged somehow. Is it able to get worse result after polishing?

Maybe. I use to park under the Spruce and Pine trees, but i thought washing would remove the tree sap.
