How Long Should a Meguairs V1 D/A Last?

Hi guys I need a little help. I know my question is a hard one to answer.

I have owned my d/a for around 8 mths and in that time I have used it for around 200hrs. I detail on a part time basis.

Ocassionally this being the third time now. There seems to be a problem with the cord D/A is working fine switch it off and it wont turn back on. It seems to be cord related open the back of the Da/ Slacken a little off the cord. And it seems to work fine. Should I get it exchanged or will a new d/a be the same?

Also how long do the bushes last and where can I buy some new ones.

Also on another note just finished a 3 day detail on my black pearl.

I have topped my nxt 2.0 sealent with the new gold class plus and my does the paint pop

I so wish I did not live in the UK. Car looks amazing and forecast for the next 5 days heavy rain

My understanding is that the some of the early v2 machines had cords that were prone to go bad. At some point Meguiars up graded the cords. Out of my three machines I had one that had a bad cord. The other two work perfectly.

I replaced the bad cord in about 5 minutes and now I am back in business with no other issues.

If the DA is out of warranty and you're not comfortable repairing it yourself, the cord is an easy and relatively inexpensive (relative to buying a new DA) fix for a small tools repair shop.

I have 4 mths warranty left on the d/a. Should I just contact Meguiars for a replacement?.

Please can you explain the cord issue in more detail?

Definitely contact Meguiars. Mine only lasted 2 months before the cord went out. I've been waiting 3 months now for a new replacement. As soon as the replacements come in, I'll be getting a new one.

It looks like it's wire connection issue.

With warranty left on your DA, Meguiar's will take care of this issue. Give them a call. They really stand behind their products.

Has the V2 got around this problem? Or If I get a replacement V1 will it just be the same and have cable issues?

Mine developed a short twice near the area where the cord enters the body of the machine. It was an easy fix to snip the wires and solder them together. The only bad part is the second time I think I reversed the connections and the 'Off' position is now 'On' and vice-versa.

If the tool is giving you problems and it is still under warranty, we would suggest you contact Meguiar's UK and arrange for a replacement. It is doubtful they have any V1s left in stock so you should be getting a V2 as replacement - at least that's how we've done it here in the Colonies since the intro of V2 and depletion of V1 inventory.

Thanks for your reply. I have been in contact with Meguiars UK. I have been speaking to Dominik Berry.
Unfortunately all they have is V1's in stock and they are due V2's very soon.

They offered a replacement but it would be a V1. Or they would send some bushes.

I have declined on both. Firstly it seems to be working again. I still think its cable related not bushes due to the fact it did this after 3 weeks of ownership. And its happened 3 times since I have purchased it.

I have a few big detailing jobs coming next month so hopefully it will last till then. Any ideas when the V2 will land in the UK?

Friendly bump!!! Michael, any ideas when the G220 V2 will land in the UK? Just been out and gave my car its weekly wax with my d/a and its playing up again!!!
