  • Pads that are compatable with Meguiars DA Polisher

I recently purchased the Meguiars G110v2 Dual Action Polisher and from what I have read on here, I think I will know just how to use it! Anyways I'm still waiting on 2 pads I ordered to actually try it out. My question is what pads actually are compatible with the polisher? Only Soft Buff 2.0 pads? If there's others, are they better than soft buff 2.0's? Stupid me didn't realize the polisher didn't come with any pads at all (lucky it came with the backing plate I guess!) and then stupid me again just orders one yellow soft buff 2.0 and one black soft buff 2.0 thinking they would be all I need! And do they not sell these things in any stores? The price isn't bad for them but shipping made it cost 30 bucks for just two pads!

That does seem pretty spendy for two pads, check out autodetailingsolutions.net they have a package of 6 2.0 pads for $49.99 with $10 shipping and you can mix and match with any combo you like. Just a heads up Meguiars doesn't recommend the burgundy cutting pads for use with the DA.

As for stores check out to see if there are any PBE stores in your area, link here.

Yea sounds like what I'll probably have to do with as many different products I use, I need a pad for each one! And I wonder why Meguiars doesn't recommend the burgundy cutting pads? Why do they make them then, for the Rotary? Just wondering, I doubt I'd have the cahoonas to try that one out with any thing even if it did work with the DA!

Foam cutting pads cause marring to paint surfaces and heat build-up therefore they are not recommended for DA polishers.
In some cases like small area sanding mark removal or deep scratch buffing they can be used but intense polishing would be necessary after.

In most applications yellow and black pads are all you need.

The same applies to speed 6 setting on G110 - can be used with caution.

G110v2 comes with 5.75" backing plate. Any buffing pads which are 1.0"+ bigger than that would work with this polisher.
For small, tight areas I recommend 4" pads. They come really handy. However they use S3BP 3" backing plate.

Last thing - when working with DA polisher the smaller the buffing pad the more aggressive it is, so 4" pad will be more aggressive than 6.5" or 7" ones.

Just about any foam pad on the market is, technically, compatible with the G110v2. You do need to choose the right backing plate for the pad though. The W68DA backing plate that ships with the tool is designed specifically for our Soft Buff 2.0 pads. It's too large for use with our original Soft Buff pads or the Lake Country line of pads. For those pads you would need the W67DA backing plate.

When using the buffer it is important to clean the pads often while working on a project, and to swap to a fresh polishing pad at least a couple of times while correcting an entire vehicle. One finishing pad should be sufficient for waxing the entire vehicle, however. Of course, if you're going to be applying a pure polish like M07 or a finishing polish like M205, you'll want more than just a single finishing pad.
