    Re: G110v2 vs GG6 vs PC 7424XP

AS with anything there is a learning curve. I have dealt with Rick countless times. He has always been professional, helpful and great to work with.

The machine has a learning curve. Go out and use it. You will get the hang of it quickly.

For removing wax, use a cutting pad with a microfiber bonnet. You will use at least 2 bonnets. Every 1/4 of the car turn it inside out. They are reversible. This way the product does not gum up on the bonnet. So 1/2 the car would be 1 bonnet. Then use a different bonnet for the other half.

On larger vehicles you might use 3,4 bonnets.

    Good luck enjoy the G110v2.

      Re: G110v2 vs GG6 vs PC 7424XP

I used the G110v2 about 6 times, then it stopped working. It did a great job until it broke, I was told the issue has been fixed now. Took the DA to Megs Irvine they mailed me a new one. The new one made a grinding sound from the motor, gets hot really fast, and the backing plate spins unevenly like the axis is tilted. Went down to Irvine again and the replaced it on the spot. This was the car I was working on when the G110v2 broke half way, I finished up the rest of the car with my friends GG6. I truly feel the GG6 had more power but the GG6 destroyed my two of my 2.0 Polish pads even when I used my Megs Backing Plate, where the Velcro delaminated from the foam. I think it creates too much heat on the plate.

      After clay and wash.

After UC, Swirlx, NXT, and Collinite

      Lots of rock chips

      Headlights Before

Headlights After 3M Headlight Restore Kit

Also I wet sanded some scratches with 2500 Unigrit and took them out with the G110v2 and GG6 on speed 6 using UC and Yellow Pad. I was told I got luck taking sanding marks out with a DA at the Megs 101 class. Does anyone else have experience taking out sanding marks with a DA?

I have heard of it being done, yes.

Nice results with the DA too btw

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

When I order PC 7424XP, *exactly* what do I get? If I were to purchase Meguiar's W8006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad can it be attached to XP or I have to buy different backing plate? I wish the user manual for XP had more details such as content of the box etc.

Dont use Megs 2.0 pads with the GG6 backing plate you will tear them up literally, if you want to use the Megs 2.0 pads get a W68DA Soft Buff 2.0 DA Backing Plate.

Does GG6 stand for Groits Garage 6 inch polisher??

In the Box you get ...
                  1) The PC
                  2) White Pad with backing plate attached ( non removable )
                  3) bag with instructions, washer, wrench

Yes you can use the Meguiars pad but you have to buy a 5.5 " backing plate or 6'' backing plate ( make sure you get a 6inch counter weight)

Thanks for the tip. Not to worry, though. For the time being, I will just be using the pads from GG.

Despite the higher amp rating for the PC 7424XP, I still prefer the Meguiar's G110v2 due to the Cruise Control feature, more flexible speed settings, and more solidly built.

I went to Lowes the other day, and saw the twin brother of 7424XP, the 7346SP. I held it on my hand, that the ABS plastic that covers the head of the PC, keeps coming off. This is without the stick handle.

You would pay for shipping back to us, but we'll compensate you for that with some free product when we ship the replacement out to you.

That's great. You'll know you will get something back to compensate.

Try holding a 5 lb dumbell straight out in front of you. Eventually, it's going to start feeling heavy. At the very least, you will get a great forearm workout.

                                3. I use the side bar sometimes. When I am using only one arm, I simply unscrew, and remove it. I install a small bolt in place of the bar to stop the rattle.

                                4. My PC has never got excessively hot, and believe me, it's been put to the test time and time again.

                                5. I have never had a problem with removing/installing the backing plate. To me, it's not cumbersome at all.

                                6. Any type of velcro pads can be used with the PC.
I have to agree completely with the above statements.

I've had the Porter Cable 7424 for about 4 years and have never experienced any of those issues. Does the body get warm, sure but never hot.

When I'm using mine the handle stays on about 50% of the time, the other 50% I simply unscrew it and set it aside.

I bought a Flex 3401 earlier this year and if you want to compare noise, the Flex is louder than the Porter Cable 7424.

If you think the Porter cable 7424 is heavy test drive the Flex 3401!
