  • HELP!!!Alternative to the Porter Cable 7424 and Equivalent Lake Country’s Pads

Need your help Guys! I have always used Meguiar products all my life, but only hand waxing stuff. I wanted to try a PC orbital buffer this time around. I thought Meguiar discontinued their Orbital, therefore, I started searching other places. I found this online and it was very helpful! http://www.autogeek.net/dual-action-...FRsFagod4R72Ww

My queston here is, what do I need from meguiars to equally up to this package http://www.autogeek.net/xmtpocaliswr.html I mean for the swirl remover #1 & #2, what meguiar product would I order? Also for the wax and most important, the pads also! I would rather get the products from this vendor. Any help would be appreciated guys!

Re: HELP!!!Alternative to the Porter Cable 7424 and Equivalent Lake Country’s Pads

I would highly recommend you shop autodetailingsolutions.com for all your Meguiar's needs. Great customer service, excellent prices and super fast shipping - order on Monday and have it in your hands by the weekend here in SoCal.

They have some special promotions going on right now at http://www.autodetailingsolutions.co...20Specials.htm If you go with the Package #3 DA Polisher Professional Swirl Removal Kit at $234.95 you'll have a great start, and for a bit less money than the Autogeek package. Or you could spend just a few dollars more than the Autogeek package and select Package #4 DA Polisher Professional Show Car Kit at $279.95 and then you're really set!

I would recommend that you talk to Rick at ADS and ask if he'll substitute M80 Speed Glaze for either the M02 Fine Cut Cleaner in the #3 package or the M83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish in the #4 package. I think this might work a bit better for you on that black BMW of yours, and M80 is more forgiving to use than M83.

Yeah, the g100 is discontinued to make room for the g110 available Jan 2008. AutoDetailingSolutions.com has some nice g100 kits with the appropriate pads, you might wanna hurry though. Now, once you get the polisher you chose, get some #80 to start and to determine if it'll be strong enough for you, and them jump to #83. Any further additional polishes, ie #7, would be applicable to darker colored paints. My ride is white so #7 is redundant if I'm using #80. Finally, get some NXT 2.0 and your off and running to a show car finish.

I would also like to add this. In your post you say how you always use Meguiars. Both of those kits come with Lake County pads. I think they are. I am not knocking them at all. However most of us use the Meguiars pads and the advice you would get tend to steer you in the direction of Meguiars pads and polishes. So imho this would be another reason to call Rick @ADS.

Not to say anything bad about ADS or other online stores, but if you can find a good local supplier they can also set you up with products and maybe suggest items you wouldn't think of just ordering from the book. I happened to find a local place that stocks most products and can get other items the next day. In my case, they are cheaper than ADS. So never forget the local shops, just make sure they carry the professional line not just the consumer line.

Also, I wanted to add an FYI, that unless the place you buy the g100 from has somekind of deal with Megs, the g100 lifetime warranty, according to the reps, is good only when purchased directly from Meguiar's.

Sounds good. The DVD is awesome, and on it Mike uses #80 and NXT via the g100 to restore that sweet vette. And no, #9 isn't too harsh.
