  • compare Meg's pad and Lake Country

From my Canadian supplier I can get the Lake Country pads much easier and less expensive , due to shipping to Canada, than the Meguiars pads for PC. I have read enough on here to avoid using the orange light cutting pad. My question is does anyone have experience with the white polishing pad and does it work well with 80 and 83? Or is this why the other sites recommend the orange because the white doesn't work well for polishing out defects. Just getting my list together and could use some advice. Thanks

To answer your question, yes. The white LC will work with 80 or 83. I have both the Megs and LC's. I wanted to try them out and see which ones I liked better. I have a local Megs distributer so I will be getting more Megs pads when I need them. Like you it's a cost/conveniece thing.

The white LC is very close in performance to the 8006 Megs pad imho. I think the LC's will work very well, especially since they are readily available.

Anyone else have experience with this.? As I read on other sites they are using the orange to remove defects and follow up with the white. I clearly read here not to do this with Meguiars products. I think the Megs yellow 8006 must fall somewhere between the white and orange Lake Country .

Thanks in advance for your input

For what it's worth, I'd like to know also. I really want to get some 4" pads. I would like to be able to match my 4" pads "cut" with my Meguiar's 6.5" ones.

Read this and look at the hazy paint in the upper left hand corner of the picture in that thread,

              Thanks Mike!
Looks like I'll be getting some white ones (Polishing). And maybe a green one (Heavy Polishing) just to try.

Re: compare Meg's pad and Lake Country

                this is how it works

                My cars: Meguiar's pads
                Other peoples cars: LC pads

You must remember that the Meguiar's products are designed for use with Meguiar's pads. If you use other pads there is no guarantee that it will work. If you polish your car enough then you will see that the polishing pad is really nice to work with. But on really neglected finishs ( aka other peoples cars) I have used a LC orange pad.

Also if you have problems finding Meguair's products you can always give Greg Morton a call. But I can tell you right not that you can order them from NAPA, for about $35 a pop.

The white LC is very close in performance to the 8006 Megs pad imho. I think the LC's will work very well, especially since they are readily available.
I think that the LC white pad is a little bit stiffer.
