  • ? on backing plate vs. velcro system

is there a difference between the W-64DA and the DA Polisher velcro backing plate that ADS.com sells? is the W-64DA the only thing i need to attach the pads to the DA or do they work in some sort of combination? thanks

The W64DA (Meguiars part number) will allow you to attach Meguiars Velcro® 6.5" cutting/polishing/finishing pads to your PC. Its all you need to use Meguiars Velcro pads on your PC. I would guess its the same one from ADS as they sell both the Meguiars G100A and the W64DA.

The Dual-Action Polisher Backing Plate W64DA comes with the backing plate only.
The DA Velcro System comes with the backing plate and 2 polishing pads and 1 finishing pad.

ADS plate should be Meguiars. Though while Megs was out of the backing plate ADS replaced it with another one. Unkown who made it. Should be back to Megs. Just call Rick and he'll let you know. Good guy.

I don’t’ know if Meg’s is back on line with the W64-DA but reports were that they were backordered on them for quite some time.

As I understand it ADS came up with their other plate so their customers wouldn’t have to wait.

A handy thing about the G-100/PC-74xx is that it uses the backing plate mounting interface that is standard for industrial pneumatic DA sanders (like Dynabrade, National Detroit, Chicago Pneumatic, etc).

From the pic on the ADS’s website their “stand in” plate appears to be a “made in USA” industrial piece.
