  • How to clean VW Dinamica inserts leather seats?

I have a VW Passat SEL and because it has a premium trim the leather surface seats are inserted with Dinamica. I have no idea about this material.
last weekend I was cleaning my interior with Meguiars quick interior detailer, it says 'Safe on ALL'. so I cleaning my dash, door panels etc with it. I have a Bick leather conditioner, but no leather cleaner. at first I hesitated to use it on leather, but I gave couple of sprays on it, cleaned and then applied conditioner. I'm not sure I did the right thing, but I cleaned with it.
The real question is how to clean the Dinamica inserts? what is that material? does anyone have this material in their car? can I use QID for this or can please someone suggest me something for this?

It's not leather at all it's micro fiber
So any fabric/APC cleaner will work

You'll need to clean that a lot as micro fibers love to hold dirt
Also get some fabric protectant on that asap to prevent oils and dirt from penetrating deep into the fabric

Yes, its not a leather but I never heard about that name before. so this material is nothing but a microfiber? I found some people are saying this as a Suede. I was confused.
Can I use Meguiars carpet & upholstery cleaner for this? btw was this product a dry foam or other?

It's alcantara suede. Good read at this link.

Re: How to clean VW Dinamica inserts leather seats?

Dinamica is a trademark name for what is essentially a synthetic suede, similar to Alcantara (technically another trademark name) and other such materials. Mario is correct that it is a form of microfiber, which is just a more generic term to describe the material than using one of the trademark names. At the end of the day though, it's a synthetic suede material that is used to impart a more luxurious feel to the interiors of many cars these days. Care is usually pretty straight forward, but you want to avoid using anything that could leave any sort of residue behind. Because of that, we recommend that you NOT use Ultimate Interior Detailer on this material. A far better choice would be our Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner, and even then we recommend wrapping a carpet brush in a microfiber towel, spraying some of the C&U Cleaner onto that, and then gently wiping the surface with this combination. You should then lightly brush the material to raise the nap. Otherwise, a light dilution of Woolite and distilled water can be used. You definitely want to avoid spraying product directly onto the surface or soaking the material.

It's defiantly not alcantra. It's micro fiber ie: fake suede

There is no way VW would spend that kind of money on these cars.
Alcantra is for exotics and not daily drivers

Yes, Mario, it's fake suede. So is Alcantara. As with anything else, there are varying types of fake suede but caring for them is actually quite similar and the same level of care needs to be taken. My daily driver has fake suede inserts on the seats and door panels, it just isn't marketed with a fancy name of any sort. Bottom line: they are all synthetic fibers woven to give the appearance of suede, with different nap lengths and densities depending on who makes it.

ok my c300 2013 is listed as dinamica too. I was told by 2 different dealers that it was the same as alcantara. go by what I'm told.

HOWEVER my BMW 328ix msport has an alcantara cf dash trim as well as steering wheel... this I added, see this:

                      Really? I didn't know Alcantra wasn't suede.
