  • first time cust to meguiars-- ' interior quick detailer' vs 'ultimate protectant' ??

first time customer here...bought first nice car i've ever had (2006 mazda3) cloth, and wish to take great care of it
(luckily was one owner, excellent condition, low km, no accidents)

....the car is in good condition...was detailed a few months ago, but i wish to keep on top of things.

question on using the 'ultimate protectant dash and trim' vs 'ultimate quick detailer' and 'wipes'
I'm a bit confused over these two...can they be used in conjunction with one another?
...would it be best to use the 'quick detailer' on a wkly (or biwkly) basis and then use the
    'ultimate protectant' less frequently?

lastly to wipe things down first (ie dust etc) should I use anything or just some 'quick interior detailer wipes' will do?

so just wondering how to use these two different products or if one is sufficient over the other?

sorry to sound like a nob, but...

I prefer QID as it does not add any gloss or glare to the dash. It does offer some UV protection but mainly it just cleans and leaves the dash looking like new. IMO, OP adds more gloss than I care for.

I dont like wipes myself. prefer a spray and a MF cloth, but thats just me.

Gloss is certainly up to you. You have Supreme Shine, Natural Shine, and Ultimate Protectant to choose from. I like the Supreme Shine myself, but my dash has a lot of texture, so doesnt get too glossy.

I like to apply the dressing to a clean dash (QID or APC wipedown), then apply the dressing. Let sit for a bit, then come back and wipe off any excess. Then every week or couple, dust with the QID as needed. Then go back to the dressing when I feel it needs it. More often in summer.

Think of QID as an interior version of one of the many exterior spray detailer products that Meguiar's offers; It's primarily a maintenance product, a light cleaner with a little protection left behind. It's a substitute for neither APC nor Ultimate Protectant, as it has its own role. I would do a thorough cleaning first, followed by my favorite protectant. QID would then be used for regular maintenance of the surface.
