I would not use a stiff brush on leather. I would use something like a clean cotton towel and a little passion.

Are you trying to remove a stain or clean the whole area?

I really like the tip I was given by mike phillips, which was to use a terry cloth or old towel because it gives you a bit more scrubbing power, then I just follow up with a microfiber and some leather cleaner

I use a horse hair shoe brush. You can usually find them at Wal-mart target, or most grocery stores.

Never had to use a brush on leather but if I did I would use a soft brush and be careful!

I would go with the terry towel route. Less worries.

Actually, I know its wrong, but on my BMW that I just bought, the seats were loaded with gunk...

I ended up using a softer wire brush and dish soap to finally get the black gunk and years of filth off.... it was harsh, but didn't do any damage...

I finished up with soaking the leather about 5 times with Bick 4 leather conditioner...

I would never use my above mentioned process on my #4 grade hide in the camaro...

I've never used a brush but a soft brush has been recommended to me quite a few times over the years.

In my thirty years of daily professional detailing i have found the best method is the combination of AP and the 3M peanut scuff sponge.
