  • Faded knobs and buttons

Is there a Meguiar's product that will work on these faded knobs and steering wheel buttons? My wife just bought this Dodge Grand Caravan and I have been able to get the interior all cleaned up but I think these look terrible and they stand out every time I look at them. Is there anything I can do? Sorry the photos are a little blurry.

What have you tried so far?

I would start with a good cleaning. Scrub with a soft tooth brush. If you have any APC give that a try. Don't over saturate the knobs since you don't want it running behind. If they still have the dull look you might want to try some interior dressing.

So far the only thing I have tried is Vinyl & Rubber #40 but I wasn't "working it in" or using a brush. No luck.

What is APC? I see the acronym APC all over these forums but I still can't figure out what it stands for. Forgive me - I'm a noob!

All Purpose Cleaner. Have you tried seeing how much it would be just to buy new ones? I imagine that headlight knob might be like $10, not sure about the others.

No problem. This was a confusing place before I learned all of the acronyms, here's the cheat sheet... Meguiars Online Acronyms

All Purpose Cleaner huh? Can't believe I could not figure that out. Where in the world would I buy a new one? A junkyard maybe?

              That might work!

If your going to get new ones and have nothing to lose try scrubbing them with an old tooth brush and soapy water. Can you scrape the stuff off with your finger nail?

No it doesn't scrape off. The car is a 2002 and the previous owners must have had it sitting outside a lot. I think the knobs are faded from the sun.

By the way - thanks for that awesome list of acronyms BlueZero! VERY HELPFUL!!!

Could try the All Season Dressing.

The other company has a product called Back to Black you could try.

I actually have some Back to Black. One of my few non-Meguiar's products. I will give it a try.

The first thing that popped into my head was the all season dressing. Good luck.

I tried the Back To Black. It worked and the knobs and buttons look great. Thanks again!
