I just received a Eureka 70A hand held vacuum. It has a rotating brush for pet hair and is very powerful for the size.
I couldn't believe how much hair this thing was picking up! I tried it on my couch that I thought was clean and it really got the inground dust and dirt. Having a powered rotating brush is really useful.
Of course this does not pick up wet things, but really worth it with animals.

There appears to be another unit which as far as I can tell is identical and more easily available.
