  • CG for engine cleaning

Will CG stain or dull aluminum (polished or non-polished) or chrome engine parts? When using CG for Engine cleaning after letting CG sit for 3-5 minutes, should I:
    A. Rinse engine compartment
    B. Use a brush and then rinse
    C. Rinse, respray CG on problem areas, scrub and rinse
    D. Rinse, respray CG on engine compartment, scrub and rinse

Yes, I still have a gallon and half left of CG.

    CG

I know I'm going to feel dumb when someone answers... but what is CG?

It's not in the Acronym list?

Mike do not feel bad, as you are busy guy and Citri Gel has been talked about in awhile since being discontinued.

Citri-Gel is supposed to be safe on any surface when diluted at 1:1

I personally have never had any problems with Citri-Gel on any surface and still have quite a bit of this product for future use.

The way I use it is to rinse engine compartment, spray on Citri-Gel, scrub all areas I can get a brush to, rinse with stream of water.

        Repeat if necessary.

                Hi,

I recently purchased another Italian car (what can I see, I am weak!). I have used a lot of M-products for cleaning and waxing the interior and exterior of the car; it looks new! My last projects are polishing the wheels and cleaning the engine bay of my car.

I was reading this thread and I was wondering ... where can I get Citri Gel? Is it a M-product? What starter's kit do you recommend for cleaning the engine bay and keeping it like new as long as possible? Does M have a good product for cleaning the aluminium alloy valve cover (see picture)?

                )

                Thanks in advance!

                Regards,
                D.

Yes, Citri Gel is a Meguiars product, which still my be available in Europe.
Check the European websites at the following link.

                  Link to international sites
Also, many of the international Meguiars websites have forums like this one.

I have not used any of the Meguiars metal cleaners, but I am sure they are good and would work on the alloy engine cover.

To maintain a clean engine, I would just clean with car wash soap every couple of weeks and clean the valve cover with metal polish once a month. Also, dress the underhood plastic and rubber monthly and should be able to maintain the clean look.
