  • M21 versus ****** treatment

We use M21 exlcusively in the winter here in Colorado for the added protection, I just had a customer who had his truck clayed and M21 applied about a month ago (and it still looked and felt great).

The customer has a detailer who applies what he calls a "****** treatment". The product is applied in long strokes and wiped clean before it dries. It is supposed to fill in microscopic pores and I guess give the surface a telfon like finish to protect and make it repell surface contamination.

The product is supposed to have a very small molecular structure which allows it penetrate the paint.

Anyone have an info or thoughts on this?

Why is your customer getting this done to his vehilce after you applied #21 to it . I doubt what ever this other detailer is appling will bond with #21 unless he stripped that off first.

This process sounds like a load of hooy.

Sounds like typical marketing hype/nonsense to me.

Any wax will "fill in microscopic pores".

Wiping a coat of "****** treatment" isn't going to change paint molecules. It's just going to add a vanishingly thin layer of itself, just like any wax. Then it will either do its job or it won't, just like any wax.

Pure sales drivel. Bet it was pricey too.

Of course, if your customer believes it you won't be able to convince him otherwise. Just try not to laugh at them or mention what an idiot the other guy is. People with irrational beliefs don't like being reminded of it.

What word is being censored? Sure makes it hard to answer the question.

Thanks RSR! Whenever I hear the word T eflon mentioned in car care products I stop reading and the product is relegated to the junk pile. 21 is a nice product that gives nice results. I don't know how long it lasts as my "practice panel" is suffering from clear coat failure. Once it's repainted next spring I'll be back to having more fun with products.

I forgot the name of the product but an old mechanic up at our shop was telling me about a LPS that he put on his car and litterally nothing would stick to it, even adhesive stickers etc. I cant rember the name of it though.

On a side note I just tried the ****** wax, and it was nothing to be excited about, unless it holds up extremely well. I taped off the hood of a towncar and did same prep on both sides. NXT or Deep crystal Carnuba gave a much deeper shine, better hiding of swirls, smoother paint.

Sounds like Acrylic Werks to me. Haven't found a real detailer who likes the stuff.
