  • New business car

    Guys
Please give me your opinion on this new business card.

I have a black vette and chose a black vette as my background thinking ppl would associate / remember me better.
I am also a member of the local corvette club which I hope gives me a little clout.
On the backside, I want to let ppl know some of the services I can do for them.
The backside is black and white option due to cost.
My personal info is blocked out for obvious reasons.
    Thank you for looking.

Well honostly to me the font needs to be changed to look more like a professional business rather than a 20 something year old kid doing business out of his garage. Don't take this the wrong way tho plz. Keep the font on the show shine detailing and the passion parfection thing as is but remove the custom auto detailing in the windshield. It makes it more busy and it's really not needed. Also on the front change the font to more of a block or italics but no cursive. Make it easy to read. And on the back keep the show shine the same and then in small block letters centered under the show shine put the custom auto detailing. Leave the rest as is but with that change the font as well.. Then that would look professional to me. Just thought u want an honost opinion

As for font clarity on certain items, think Helvetica and Helv Bold and Helv Black. The clarity is extreme and widely used for that reason worldwide. It is also Microsoft's theory behind WinPhone 8 and Win 8 font design (I use Segoe, a hybrid of Helvetica by Microsoft), see photos below:

        Re: New business car

Big yes to the font clarity point!

Look at any big or successful company in our industry even:
        3M
        Meguiar's
        Adam's
        AMMO
        Mother's
        Turtle Wax

All have easy to read and easily distinguishable logos of contrasting shapes and colors and a clean font.
I do like your idea of a pretty car to draw attention, but maybe only on one side, so you can list your important info in a clean easy to read manner down the back of the card.

          Re: New business car

Thanks to everyone on the advice. I totally re-designed the business card. New background, reduced the amount of wording on the front and moved my contact info to the backside.
Aligned all the wording to the left edge and used a more readable font.

The background is my car. I used it to project the results I can deliver.
The red lettering was chosen to tie in with the red lights in the picture.

I do need your advice on the business name. I had chosen "Show Shine" originally. Then someone commented to me it sounds like "Shoe Shine". I dont want to be associated with shoes.
But I still want to project "Shine" in the name. If "Show Shine" still works then fine but I would like your opinion.
          Radiance = Shine

          Here are 2 card samples.

Please let me know what you think.
          Thank you

Looks good. I actually liked the first card, if it was cleaned up a bit as stated. Could probably kept the cursive on the logo, but changed the rest as recommended, and left stuff out of the middle.

2nd card is def on par. I liked the name, but the point brought up about show vs shoe when followed by "shine"is kinda valid. But throwing another word in between breaks up "autopilot hearing" a customer may have. Say Show Car Shine, and it becomes unmistakably what it is supposed to be, no one will hear Shoe Car Shine. In rapid and even mumbled conversation the brain puts sounds together like puzzles listening for what makes sense, hence why Show Shine could be easily mistaken, bit Show Car Shine definitely could not.

But now, Show Car Shine Detailing if just getting too long, so dropping the word "detailing" off would be a must if you went that route.
Extreme Radiance def works, as long as your happy with it.

My mind is in name-mode right now myself as I didn't do my due diligence when choosing mine, and apparently there is a very large company I have never heard of who is upset I have their same name, even though there is no geographical conflict, I am looking at the real possibility of having to change my name after I've built a website, printed business cards, registered on yelp, running a groupon ad campaign, giant logo on the side of my van, etc etc etc.

I love the new design! I don't think I have ever seen one exactly like it, very well designed and I love that it is a picture of a real car. That adds a lot of value to the appeal of your business. Great job man

                Greg:

Don't overuse the italics on everything. Looks great on the company name, but the card would look even better with the rest not italic. Try removing italic on Premier Automotive Detailing Service, see how you like the contrast.

Ok i cut back on the italics except for the EXTREME RADIANCE. All other wording uses the same font because i like the letter thickness. Plus doing so adds consistency.
Overall I am really happy with this card.
If anyone else would like advice from another perspective i have the same thread on autogeek.
