On our latest water bill, we got some "NEW" rules. We are now under a "tiered" (ie. $$$) plan on water useage.

Like cleaning wheel wells, insides of wheels, engines, etc... If you're just taking care of the exterior paint on your vehicle, then ONR is a great product. But if you're trying to do a full deep cleaning, then I'll stick with my pressure washer. I can do an entire vehicle with about 10 gallons of water out of my van. So it's not too wasteful. A little more then ONR, but not real bad.

"No Rinse" products are great for some and not so for others. I do find it slower to work with, when working on a car that has really dirty wheel wells and rims.

      Re: Mobile Detail with ONR

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have a few questions as I'll be moving to California this summer and having water restrictions will be a new concept for me:

      1. Since water draining down the driveway is "illegal" in CA, does NO ONE do that anymore in that state?

      2. When it comes to cleaning wheel wells, tires, and wheels, how do you rinse them off after applying ONR, APC, degreaser, wheel cleaner, etc. without getting fined?

I have some ONR and am ok about using it, but comon Meguiar's -- yall gotta develop some rinseless washes!!!!

          Re: Mobile Detail with ONR

When I wash my own truck in the driveway I always use the conventional method of a hose and 2 buckets. I believe the law is that if you are a mobile detailer you have to reclaim your water.

I know that certain cities have certain water restrictions and you can get fined for that, but you are going to have to check with whatever city you are moving to. At the moment, my city does not, so it is fine for me to use a hose and have run-off when doing personal vehicles.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

          I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
          Remove swirls my friends.

            Re: Mobile Detail with ONR

I think we're either moving to Irvine or Corona -- parents have been looking at houses in those 2 cities. And I've been searching for city water laws and haven't been able to find anything concrete. Can someone help me with a link?

I'm still hoping someone can answer my second question..

            Awaiting patiently.

LMAO. Never saw this thread again until now. I don't know either. Re-reading it, I'm sure I meant it shouldn't violate the law.

                Re: Mobile Detail with ONR

I haven't had a problem with ONR in an enforced city. I tend to use ONR liberally, which is with a soaking, dripping mitt. Even if I use my sprayer, the water trail usually extends no more than a foot or so from any end of the vehicle.

+1 on the Irvine, but that's just me. You'll probably have more "simple" freedoms that you can't get in a big, orderly city in Corona though, For example, washing your car. I haven't looked into either city, but my guess is that Corona would be more liberal on that.

I see...I think we're lookin more into Irvine since my dad's office is there. Corona would make it almost a 45 minute drive WITHOUT traffic, and from what I hear, Cali traffic is CRAZY! lol

Think it'll be bad down there, wait until you get to the mountains and there are city people driving around when there is inclement weather! Want to talk about crazy, lol.

Good luck with the move when the time comes!

Still don't have an answer on how people wash their wheels, rims, and fender wells without being able to rinse them. Anyone?

I agree. I find it works very well for washing cars that are well protected with only light soiling. Any long term or stuck on dirt and I find that ONR fails and really lacks the cleaning ability of a good car soap.

NP, lol. I use it on my wheels and tires when I wash the cars with ONR. Works just fine. I don't get into the wheel wells though. I suppose if I had to stick to something like ONR, I'd just spray 'em down with some tire foam.
