  • 66?? an 3????

Well I placed another order with my local distributer and ordered a gallon of 66 some 3 adn a 4000 wool pad (dont worry its for boats). I did seach but came upon a few conflicting posts.

My question is about the 66 I have heard a few people use it on boats if so what do u use to apply and what are the results I should expect. I have makita rotary and pc what pad and speeds for these would be great.

Another would be the 3 any one have experience with this with a rotary and fiberglass what pad speed etc should i be using?
    Thank ahead of time Greg.

    Hi Greg,

As you know, changing the application method and keeping the product the same with a "cleaner/wax" type of product like M66 will change the cutting ability. The best way to apply depends on the condition of the boat. If you have a boat that is in great shape, hand or DA would be fine. If you have a boat with some oxidation or stains, you may choose to go to the rotary to remove these.

Keep in mind, you are using M66, which is designed for automotive clears. Next time, you may try M50 Cleaner/Wax, it is the Marine cousin to M66, and is designed for gel coats. It is a tick more aggressive.

As far as speeds go, it depends on the condition of the boat. Most likely you'll be in the 1200 - 1500 range with the rotary.

When using the M03 with a rotary, the speeds will be about the same 1200 - 1500, but obviously with a foam pad. (Yellow Polishing)
