  • my dads 2001 toyota highlander

    Hello everyone.

This weekend I am going to my dads house and I want to detail his car. When he washes it, he uses the automatic car wash stations, and the brush that is provided at the car was place puts spider scratches on his pain.. The scratches arent very visible, but in the sun they are still there. And it annoys me. So I was wondering if you guys would recomend just a deep crystal paint cleaner or scratch-X, and maybe even clay it if that will take out the scratches. Any suggestions would help. Oh yeah and if it matters the paint is a dark green with sparkles n such....I dont know how to explain it, stock 2001 toyota highlander "forrest" green.

Using the brush? You will have to convince him to stop using it, very hard on paint as you already know.

If you are doing it by hand... ScratchX is probably the best option and then on to a wax, NXT Tech wax is a great option!

He would be better off buying his own body brush to use at home.

Claying will not take out scratches, but will help remove contaminants that make the surface rough. After claying, your finish will be left as smooth as glass.

Scratch X will remove spider webbing from the finish, but will require alot of elbow grease / multiple applications.
